Shower Power is [arguably] the biggest and most prolific Christian acapella group in Africa and one of the most illustrious Adventist musical ensembles in Africa.

Stemming from their name, meaning “Shower the Holy Ghost Power”, the  group believe not only in the transforming power of God’s Holy Spirit, but also in the need to spread that power to others through song.

Local artists expected to perform during the concert include Card Messages Quartet, Joseph Chadeleka, Mixed Voices, Chifundo Chikonga and Beula Land.

The Mixed Voices will also dish out instrumental Sabbath track, according to one of the organizers Kenneth Khondiwa.

“The aim is to spread the gospel and prepare the hearts of man to accept Christ.

“The concert is open to all people and patrons should expect wonderful performances and soul soothing songs from the acts,” said Khondiwa.

Shower Power are not new in the country; last year they performed at Robin’s Park in Blantyre where they ditched out marvelous melodies.

Shower Power has also performed with Donnie McLurkin and Andre’ Crouch.

For the first time in Malawi Shower Power brings the first female member and her name is Karabo Desouza.

Shower Power,  has also performed in various countries including the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and the United States of America.

The group’s latest album “the Journey” received the 2012 United States Contemporary Acappella Society (CARA) accolade for Best African Acapella Album, in respect to its unique combination of blueprint, purpose and sound engineering.

“It will be a great gospel concert and fans should brace themselves for a complete blessing from the 7th generation of Shower Power.

“We are also certain that the concert will bring listening pleasure and Spiritual Upliftment,” said Khondiwa.

In its 23 years of existence, Shower Power has recorded various albums like God in His Mercy, Spirit of God, Today, Holy Life and Hymns,The Journey.

The current Shower Power music ministry comprises Mwandikudza Sithole, Jeremiah Janda, Tinovimba Ndiraya, Ngonidzashe Gumbo, Innocent Kudyautambe, Promise Matope, Professor Mkohliswa,Owen Marowa,Lawrence Jembere and Karabo Desouza.
