Aford produces party cards to fundraise for elections

Alliance for Democracy (Aford) president Enoch Chihana says the party has produced party cards which will be sold at K100 each.

He was speaking during a news conference after welcoming Karonga central MP Frank Mwenifumbo back to the party.

“The minimum price of the party card is K100 but people can buy it at any price beyond the minimum price,” he said.

He said party secretary general Edward Ritchie has already started dispatching them.

Chihana was responding to a question if he was the sole financier of Aford as is the case with the Democratic Progressive Party and United Democratic Front whose leaders take their parties as personal estates.

Mwenifumbo also announced at the ceremony that the Aford manifesto and party constitution are now online.

“The president, the Right Honourable Chihana has put personal resources to put these online,” he said.

He said Malawians should read the party constitution and manifesto and would agree that all solutions to the country’s problems are with Aford.

Mwenifumbo left Aford to join the late Bingu wa Mutharika’s DPP where he was deputy minister before moving to Peoples Party then stood on an independent ticket during the 2014 parliamentary electons.

He is seen as a key person in revamping Aford.

Chihana is selfish and self centred and does not respect other people. That is why his party lost miserably last general elections. During his meetings he is full of hate messages and castigating his opponents. I for one would not vote for him because he would not make a good president. His new recruit Mwenifumbo is just another rolling stone, blowing with the wind! Maybe they could cheat illiterate villagers to support him (Chihana) as they have done before.

This is welcome development. Those of us in diaspora support the development. We would only request all members to avoid power struggle. When too many intelligent people are put together, the end result is idea advancement struggle ending up into doing nothing.
We need only one party that should be supported and become a national party based on ideologies where all can be accommodated. Fundo zileke kuba zakusankhana mitundu but we need to work together. We are all one with all sorts of inter marriges I feel the kusankhana mitundu is a story of the past. Do not support anyone merely because he comes from your region, tribe or district but because he speaks and does sense. Let’s disagree to agree and avoid miseche and bribery chonde nabeya sima yikabeya dende on the trip into a human stomach!!!
