Immigration officer nabbed for fake temporary employment permits
An Immigration Officer has been arrested in Lilongwe for allegedly issuing fake temporary employment permits to foreigners.
This followed ministry of Labour officials inspection on work places following President Peter Mutharika’s directive on racist expatriate bosses.
Spokesperson for the Immigration Department Joseph Chauwa confirmed the arrest of Henry Kwanjana after some arrested foreigners named him as behind the issuance of fake temporary employment permits.
“This follows investigations on how some foreigners got temporary employment permits,” he said.
Chauwa said Fiscal police were investigating the matter.
Each TEP costs US$1500 or K800000. Henry Kwanjana works for the Immigration at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe and is son to David Kwanjana, the central region boss for the Immigration Department.

Well this is just a tip on the iceberg. If we had a working ACB they should have already paused on immigration. One case to point out is that of chidothe, who connived with an agent to defraud an applicant of a permit by issuing a forged bank receipt. This is common at immigration where money is stolen and applicants are issued with forged bank receipts and thereafter they are told that their files can not be traced. the case of Chidothe shows that money already changed hands between the prosecution and the courts and it will not go anywhere.… Read more »

the whole country is filled with illegal foreigners who have fake work permits and passports. Image you arrive from your country of origin (pakistan) and in less than six months you have a Malawi passport. I work for a company owned by Asians and most expatriate here are holding Malawi passport. I have more qualification than them and also do all the paperwork they only watch me as a security guard. Now i know how but I myself can not do anything about it, because I am a poor Malawian
