Announcing the sponsorship increase at Mpira House in Blantyre on Thursday, Carlsberg officials said  with the new sponsorship,  the winner will receive K12million, up from K10 million.

Carlsberg senior brands manager (alcoholic) Twikale Chirwa, said the increase  will help to counter prevailing economic challenges in the country.

FAM president Walter Nyamilandu said the sponsorship adjustments would help them to organise this year’s competition without hiccups.

“This is good news,” said Nyamilandu.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers are Carlsberg Cup defending champions.

The Carlsberg Cup is open to teams in the Super League and regional leagues.

Despite the negative comments here Carlsberg still deserves appreciation from football fans especially considering that the other cup sponsors Standard Bank pulled out and rechanneled the money to training of auditors or something for people managing Global Fund monies. I found that rather laughable because Global Fund doesn’t really need the Standard Bank Malawi peanuts to make a difference in its operations.

AN ALREADY EXPENSIVE LOCALLY MANUFACTURED PRODUCT JUST GOT MADE EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE! There is close to ZERO-ADVERTISING BENEFIT that Carlsberg Malawi Brewery Limited (CMBL) and Walter Nyamilandu can demonstrate by this tie-up And Nyamilandu WILL FAIL AGAIN to show what ADDED VALUE Carlsberg’s ADDED K10m ADDS to MALAWI FOOTBALL. High-Quality Beer, Coca-Cola, properly managed and properly administered Football, salt, soap, sugar and pornography are SELF-SELLING PRODUCTS – except when idiots try and sell them. When is Football going to be forced to become a PROPER PARTNER by removal of all the INTEREST-FREE CORPORATE CASH and INTEREST-FREE ILLEGAL TAXES? THE 50… Read more »
