Eagles dislodge Nomads on Malawi TNM Super League table

Mighty ‘Nyerere’ Wanderers’ 4-2 loss at the hands of Blantyre United on Saturday, December 15, 2012 has had a spillover effect as the Nomads have slumped from fifth to seventh position on the TNM Super League log table.

This follows victories registered by Blue Eagles and Civo United over their Sunday, December 16, 2012 opponents.

Eagles won 1-0 against Kamuzu Barracks at Nankhaka Ground through an Innocent Bokosi strike to take over the fifth position from the disgruntled Nomads, who are stuck on 31 points from 19 games. Eagles now have 33 points from 19 games.

The Nomads’ cause was not helped by Civo’s 3-2 victory over bottom-placed Kabwafu as the servants now lie sixth with 32 points from 21 games.

Patrick Gunde (penalty), Martin Masoatheka and Dan Katunga were the servants on target as Civo came from a goal down to defeat the visitors from Mzimba, who took the lead through Dan Lusale.

Ibrahim Kaunda tried to put Kabwafu back into the contest on 89 minutes but the full-time whistle saved the servants.

Elsewhere at Kalulu Stadium, Moyale Barracks completed their successful tour of the south with a 2-0 victory over struggling Azam Tigers.

Crispin Fukizi put the soldiers on the victory trail against the run of play before Gastin Simkonda sealed the victory in added time.

With the win, Moyale have dislodged Tigers on eight position with 28 points from 21 games. Tigers have dropped to nineth with 27 points from 19 games.
