Airtel Malawi says it believes Information Communication Technology (ICT) is instrumental to the realization of professional and national growth in as far as technological uptakes are concerned.
Airtel’s Regulatory Director Wilson Kyumba said this Wednesday at the Malawi Adventist University where Airtel donated 10 3G powered ZTE V9A Tablets to the institution’s library.
Kyumba said today’s development is dependent on having viable access to information.
“We need to be a society that is continuously on the lookout for new developments and we should enhance networking as well as sharing experiences with the global village so that our country stands on its toes,” he said.
According to Kyumba, the donation aims at helping to scholars to enhance their skills in research and explore new knowledge as well as access to academic online resources.
“At Airtel, it is our belief that with the right technology, the opportunities for students’ personal growth and development are endless and we at Airtel, feel privileged to be part of this exciting journey,” explained Kyumba.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor of Malawi Adventist University Dr. Mozicie Kadyakapita hailed Airtel for the timely donation saying it will go a long way to championing academic excellence.
Dr Kadyakapita further said as a growing University, his institution realizes that the pace of change outpaces the pace of learning.
“We are in an era where a whole lot wealth of information and knowledge can be accessed, shared and acted upon at a click of a button and so we are very grateful to Airtel for providing us with a super highway to achieve such a reality,” he said.
The ZTE tabs are loaded with data bundles that will last for three months.
The donation to the Adventist University comes barely two weeks after Airtel donated another unit of similar ZTE TABS to Kamuzu College of Nursing, a constituent college of the University of Malawi.
Meanwhile, Airtel says it will continue the ZTE TAB college donations’ crusade in other higher learning institutions like The Malawi Polytechnic, College of Medicine, The Chancellor College, Catholic University, Mzuzu University and Livingstonia University among others.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
