Kalichero has been working as  deputy chief of protocol in Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

She comes to London to take over from Tembo Jnr whose  tour of diplomatic duty has come to an end.

A University of Malawi graduate,  Tembo Jnr was introduced to diplomatic duties under the tenure of former president Bakili Muluzi. He worked at Malawi Embassy in Brussels,  Belgium.

He was appointed deputy High Commissioner to UK by former president Joyce Banda when she restored  the diplomatic ties after relations between Britain and Malawi relations reached its lowest.

The government of late President Bingu wa Mutharika sent packing British High Commissioner to Malawi after the envoy had described Mutharika as becoming dictatorial in his style of governance.

Britain retaliated by sending back home the Acting High Commissioner to London.

It is also expected that the former colonial master is about to appoint a new Queen Representative to Malawi to replace Micheal Nevin, whose has been redeployed elsewhere.

Congratulations Mrs Kalichero. You truly deserve this. Your hard work over the years has paid off. In His time God makes all things beautiful, no matter how much much people may try to pull you back and place obstacles on your way. Keep up the good work. Malawi will certainly be well represented in the UK because of your appointment. .

What constitutes beauty – is it a fair skin or general appearance? The woman is simply seated and some of you are showering her with praises that she is beautiful – have you seen her structure when she is upright? How about the type of nose she has – a flat nose and not a pointed one and you say she is beautiful? Wait a minute.

  8. As far as I am concerned, Quent Kalichero is a bonafide Malawi citizen hence entitled to access all economic opportunities in this country. I have seen this young lady at work and she has never exhibited any features of an inefficient civil servant. If the leadership has deemed her suitable for the position of Deputy High Commissioner to London I am happy for her. I am an advocate for women’s inclusion in the socioeconomic development process of this country and the more deserving women are appointed to such high profile public positions the more our democracy will be inclusive. Congratulations Quent. Wishing you all the success at the Malawi High Commission in London. Mr President thumbs up for the paradigm shift you have demonstrated in recent past. First it was the appointment of equal number of women and men in the Malawi Electoral Commission where 4 eminent women and 4 men were appointed as MEC Commissioners.
