News coming from Capital Hill, Malawi Government’s heartbeat indicates that President Peter Mutharika is redeploying former Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation spokesperson Quent Kalichero to UK as the new Deputy High Commissioner to replace John Tembo Junior.
Kalichero has been working as deputy chief of protocol in Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
She comes to London to take over from Tembo Jnr whose tour of diplomatic duty has come to an end.
A University of Malawi graduate, Tembo Jnr was introduced to diplomatic duties under the tenure of former president Bakili Muluzi. He worked at Malawi Embassy in Brussels, Belgium.
He was appointed deputy High Commissioner to UK by former president Joyce Banda when she restored the diplomatic ties after relations between Britain and Malawi relations reached its lowest.
The government of late President Bingu wa Mutharika sent packing British High Commissioner to Malawi after the envoy had described Mutharika as becoming dictatorial in his style of governance.
Britain retaliated by sending back home the Acting High Commissioner to London.
It is also expected that the former colonial master is about to appoint a new Queen Representative to Malawi to replace Micheal Nevin, whose has been redeployed elsewhere.
