Kabwila accuses DPP of sidelining MCP councillors

The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has said the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is sidelining its counsellors in meetings of development programs.

Kabwila: Blasts DPP

Kabwila: Blasts DPP

MCP spokesperson Dr Jessie Kabwira made the remarks in Lilongwe on Monday during a news conference.

“It so sad that since the elections, only DPP and United Democratic Front (UDF) councillors are the one being invited to developmental meetings at district and city councils.

“The tendency of politicizing developments has been a stumbling block to the country’s economic growth and we believe it’s high time we put politics aside and move forward.

“This country is for all of us regardless of where we come from and our political affiliations. The leadership should not be on the forefront bringing in divisions,” she said.

MCP through her spokeswoman has been critical to the DPP administration and labelled President Peter Mutharika government as incompetent.

“Stop calling this government as a caring government”, Kabwila in on record saying.

Kabwira said the DPP-led government is behaving as if they are not ready to government.

Let them swallow their pride first.

  17. chingolopiyo says:

For my own understanding MCP has more councillors in the central region. Is Jessie trying to tell us that these development meetings are happening in the southern region only. Has she consulted the District Commissioners of the central region to find out why they are not having meetings. I thought MPs are supposed to work together with the councillors as well is that happening Jessie.

Like the educated Ntaba,Jesse is not making use of her education coz her brain has been clouded by politics.U have never recognized this government, how do you expect to work with something illegal? You a a new generation that is paying for the sins of your fathers. You will never win until you appease the souls of those who died because of MCP.You can never teach others about good governance, especially an empty tin like you

  23. Kapucheche says:

It is bad to sideline them especially in developmental meetings. Such will not take us anywhere. I see a lot of wisdom in what Kabwila has said. Mind you the country had no counsellors for 10 years and most of these people are new in this job and where do you think they will get and learn expertise to bring development. I 100% agree with Kabwila, call me M.C.P. follower, I don’t care. she has said and I quote “This country is for all of us regardless of where we come from and political affiliations”. I rest my case.

  26. Padambo Njobvuyalema says:

Does Jessie Kabwila speak on behalf of the party or just her own mind? If this woman’s outbursts are representing the party’s position then I must say the MCP leadership is a complete disgrace, headless and a bunch of lost creatures.
How do you expect the DPP to work with MCP councillors when the same MCP leadership is day in, day out preaching its gospel of not recognizing the DPP government and President MUtharika? In fact the best and most sensible think I have been looking forward to is for the MCP to declare that its parliamentarians will not be attending parliament sessions because it (MCP) remains convinced that the DPP government is illegitimate.
Is Jessie not one of the beneficiaries of the recent Parliamentary Cash-gate in which MPs have pocketed K24m each as loans out of which they will only repay 50%?. MCP has no principles and with Jessie in her current position the party will never be taken seriously. REPLACE JESSIE KABWILA FOR THE GOOD OF THE PARTY!

  27. Useless woman kambwira i wish u would not born.nyapako

  28. Gunz says:

Reading through the comments it is clear many people think they first belong to political parties in malawi and then Malawi, not vice versa. That is exactly why we have a lot of mediocre minds in the country, thinking their enemy is another person in other political party and not poverty affecting the whole country. They are willing to suppress constructive criticism and ideas for political gains. For every Malawian who is working hard thinking and doing what ever necessary to develop this country there are more than 100 of these no brain people negating the progress made. Some of them will even disagree with this pose simply confirming they are trush. For a moment let us engage each other and move forward as Malawians and not as political party members.

  29. pooooopo says:

DPP and UDF are in coalition therefore they discuss issues that will promote their political agendas in as far as development is concerned. Ma khansala anu a MCP wo adikire a DC aitanisa misonkhano ya onse. That was a purely party meeting. kkkkkk kkkkkk koma abale Kabwila wafoililatu uyu.kkkkk MCP kkkk simuzalowanso m’boma inu.

  45. Abiti Mtila says:

If MCP do not recognize the DPP led government, how do you expect the MCP counselors to be part of the government development meetings? Wait until you have your government its when your counselors will be involved! Mind you, you can not fight the government! You will never win! You will cry but to no avail. Ask the Njobvuyalema’s they have never castigated the government! Politics is a dirty game. If you think you can’t beat them, then join them else your will rot in opposition!

    1. Beautiful advice indeed, but do not give it by Party inclination. We beleive the ‘developmental committee” you elected in Parliament is not on Party politics, it is supposed to work at National interest. Osakokela mbali yomwe kuli masapota ambili achipanicho.

  46. chiku says:

wat i know for a fact is that, this party we call M.C.P will never ever rule. The best it will ever get is opposition leadership untill its leaders are able to separate between politics a National leadership.

  47. hotlips says:

    Jessie,

The secretariat that arranges and manages the meetings is headed by the DC. Have you written to or discussed the issue with the DC’s. Do you have a clue about administration or you are just a vocalist?

  48. Dunstan Phiri says:

Busy with stupid and baseless comments on this issue. We are living in a new era of democrasy no wonder people are calling for feudelism due to division that the leader is advocating through his appointments based on regions. This country needs a God fearing leader and not the mtchonas who run away when malawians were fighting for democracy. We need Gods devine intervetion.Otherwise this country doesn’t deserve such type of leadership.I cry for my beloved country!! This country doesn’t belong to one family, tribe or region. The cake must be shared equally.

  50. vindere says:

Please Chewas wake up! Don’t let Jesse Kabwila only to speak on your behalf. You mean you don’t know where this country is heading to with this DPP lead government or you just don’t care. You’re the most sleepy tribe i’ve ever seen. You are being tossed left and right by Mulhako and Yaos and yet you remain quiet. Look at VP Chilima,he was just used to lead DPP to a victory and yet now he’s being sidelined and very soon ,he’ll be replaced by Atupele as a 2019 running mate to APM.For your own information Southerners will never allow a person from Central or North to rule this country. They would rather vote for a DOG to rule as long as that DOG is DPP or UDF and comes from the South. Start emulating your friends from the North who speak their minds without fear or favour.

    1. Chemjambe says:

Point of collection Chilima is a Ngoni not a Chewa. So who are u to tell us the chewa to wake up? We would also like to hear from this ever-barking lady to talk when the government has done something good not only accusing. Being a chewa does not mean we should hate our fellow friends from other tribes (we r one). If u are a Tumbuka do what u know best “tribalism”.

    2. Jones Chavula says:

Choka chindere chakufikapo iwe usapomboneze achewa with your tribalism/regionalism. Iwe ingopanga seccession/federalism yako na Mzomera/Mkandawire winu, not all northerners or chewas appreciate the divisive approach you have taken upon losing the elections on May 20.

  51. Fwetseke says:

  52. chekambewa says:

Sunati kabira ulira kuti nyoooooo even if you were married i dont think you husband could tolerate the nosense you do you are indeed a disgrace

  53. joseph banda says:

Kabwila Jessie, stop crying and complaining like a spoiled child (which you are). Let MCP Counsellors be pro active and set their own system to ensure that they get information on all meetings and activities. But crying that they are being sidelined is Childish

So coming to us through the news papers, what will that help us. Otherwise let them resign.

  54. Concerned Malawian. says:

im not DPP but i respect whoeva wins the elections whether anabera or not,,,

I REST MY CASE IN PEACE!

  55. mai nsato says:

    Madam Jessica Kabwir!!!
you are a disgrace indeed. Even some MCP mps are trying to avoid you because you are a racist person because you are not 100% Malawian. You have claimed Malawi citizenry on paper but you are a Zimbabwean. Your father was working for a white farmer in Zimbabwe and amid racist that was happening there in the farms, you had observed and you want to better it here. Shame shame Jessica.
It is time to work with Govt of the day. Not Govt of the day to go and ask MCP opposition party what to do. It will never happen. JZU Tembo tried and failed. All you are doing is to dent the image of MCP and Chakwera basi. In Salima no DPP mp was elected. So all of you are opposition. Always opposing anything because you are empty headed. You will miss out on any developmental programes because you consider yourselves MCP not as Malawians but MCP opposition kumangotsutsa basi. You Chakwera is another stupid person like Sata of Zambia a mbatata who has no ideas. Glad Malawi voted for DPP and not MCP. MCP leadership is too dull.
