Lawi, Tay Grin and Bingolingo win at Malawi Music Awards

Musicians Lawi, Dan Lu and Tay Grin have notched up Malawi Music Awards at the ceremony in Lilongwe on Friday night.

Malawi’s hip hop star Tay Grin won the best hip hop and rap award while Lawi won the best accousting award. Bingolingo won as an upcoming artist.

“Thank you Heavenly Father for giving me the talent to do what I do. Thank you to my family, friends and fans for voting. Vote,” Tay Grin posted on Instragram his photo with an award.

He thanked people for nominating him : “11 years in the game and it’s all because of your support. I dedicate this to you; here’s to 11 more years to come. To all the other nominees I salute you. So much talent. Let’s work together and take Malawi music to the rest of the continent and beyond. With unity comes power. Thank you all once again! God bless.”

Princess Chitsulo got her award as best gospel female artist and King James got his as best gospel male artist.

Chitsulo also got an award for the song of the Year – Ndidzayimbabe.

Danny Kalima received his award as best RnB Male artist.

The award of best reggae artist went to Sally Nyundo.

Dan Lu emerged as best contemporary Afro Pop singer and also as best male artist while Nesnes got his award as best Dancehall Artist.

Best Female Artist award went to Favoured Martha.

Kamuzu Barracks received an award as Best Gospel Group with Lusubilo as Best Band.

The duo Edgar and Davis received an award as Best Neo Traditional Artist.
