FAM President Walter Nyamilandu: Flames brand shunned

The association is hunting for new sponsors as their K250 Million three year sponsorship romance comes to an end this year and the chances of Carlsberg continuing with the sponsorship are minimal.

Nyamilandu told Malawi Broadcasting Corperation (MBC) this week that all the companies they have approached are shunning the Flames brand and opt to rather sponsor a trophy.

“Alot of companies are interested in sponsoring cups,” said Nyamilandu.

Arguably, this is as a result of Flames recent poor perfomance leading to the team failure to qualify both to the next coming World Cup as well as African Cup of Nations (Afcon) competitions.

“Everybody wants to be associated with the winning brand but I hope sooner or later we will be able to secure a sponsor for the Flames,” said the FAM boss.

The Flames who are in the foundation stage of appointing new Flames Coach are expected to participate at the CHAN tournament early next year.

what a shame…… but all in all Mr President dont you think that its time for you to go and let others take the ship, you have already said that companies are shunning because of Poor Perfomance at the moment indeed is true people dont associate with loser even in a family parents give credits to those children who are performing very well and distance themselves to those who are not performing that is why they are companies are shunning, the Minister even said that its time to change the way we do it, so change has to start with you you always approach those companies with the very same tone and style..indeed its time to change the tone and style you have run out of ideas of convicing the private sectors .if you leave the stage together with your Team a new fresh team with new ideas will come in and am 100% sure that companies will come in and help….ochewa amati nyimbo imodzimodzi sachezela gule..
