Malawi top referee Francisco Scova arrested
Francisco Scova considered as one of the tp football refrees on the local scene was nabbed by Police in Blantyre on Tuesday.
His arrest followed a warrant of arrest issued against him by Blantyre magistrate court.
Scova’s lawyer, Hastings Dube confirmed the arrest but refused to divulge more information.
“What l can confirm to you is that he has been arrested after a warrant of arrest was issued against him by the court,” Dube told Nyasa Times.
But according to a warrant of arrest in a criminal Case number 156 of 2013 , there are three offences.
The first offence is about accessory after the facts of false declaration while the second offence is about forgery.
The last offence is abuse of office.
The youthful referee, who works for Immigration Department was recently transferred to Salima.
Before his transfer, Skova was officiating in the southern region.
He has recently been refree in the central region with the recent game under his charge against Civo vs Epac where Civo United coach Thom Mkorongo was on his neck after the match describing him as a person who doesn’t know how to officiate games.
Skova is famous for awarding Big Bullets a controversial penalty which enabled the ‘People’s Team’ to come from
behind and hold Silver Strikers 1-1 at Kamuzu Stadium during the second round of the 2012/13 TNM Super League season.
