Mbilizi, Chidale shines in HS Winehouse golf tourney

Paul Chidale overcame a field of 40 golfers at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Wednesday to win the ballpool sponsored by HM Winehouse, an executive bar located in Namiwawa, Blantyre.

Chidale added the icing on the cake having also won  nearest to the pin and two club.

The former development golfer counted back veteran MY Patel having both scored 18 points while former Blantyre Sports Club captain James Chimwaza emerged third with 18 points.

In subsidiary prizes immediate past captain of (BSC) Hudson Kantwanje drove the longest shot to win.

Roza Mbilizi won the women’s category and got the only prize offered for them.

Chidale said he was encouraged by his playing partners who gave him a good run.

“I am very happy that I have today because of my playing partners who kept on setting the pace for me. The golf course was also in perfect condition,” Chidale said.

The former Malawi’s top ranked golfer also thanked HM Winehouse for the sponsorship.

Blantyre Sports Club Golf Captain John Gift Mwakhwawa said the  HM Winehouse made it possible for the competition to be sponsored.

“We really appreciate for the sponsorship which came at short notice. I hope this is not the last time you are doing this,” Mwakhwawasaid.

He also the Blantyre Sports Club broke the long standing tradition for the prize presentation to be held at the club after any competition in appreciation of the sponsorship.

“We decided to hold the prize presentation away from the club because there’s always exceptions to any rule,” he said.

He also commended the number of the golfers who turned out as impressive considering that it was midweek competition.

Wilkins Mijiga, who owns Winehouse with his wife Rachel, said the joint was ideal for golfers.

“We have mega ambitions to grow and we know that in golf that’s where mega ambitions are,” he said.

Rachel Mijiga said they sponsored the competition as a token of appreciation for support they get from golf customers at the place.

“We wanted to say thank you to our customers who also happen to golf players,” she said.

She promised that to sponsor another competition next year.

HM Wine was opened last year in July offering entertainment to the business executive around the affluent suburb of Namiwawa.

Isn’t this the same woman who has robbed us millions in tax evasion with the Mkango and Ejaz Wholesale crook brothers and somehow story is off the site. Take these guys to task they are termites to the economy.
