Mzuzu University announces date for 18th congregation

Mzuzu University (Mzuni) has finally officially announced March 24 as date for its 18th congregation to be held at the prestigious Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital Lilongwe.

Mzuni graduation congregation

The congregation, Nyasa Times understands, was supposed to be held last year but was definitely postponed following staff’s strike to push for better perks that lasted until February this year.

But in a memorandum, signed by the University Registrar (UR) Vyson Jedegwa, communication has been made that the ceremony will begin at08:00.

The University’s tabloid, Mzuni Live, said let out words of congratulations to all the would-be graduands.

“Congratulations brothers and sisters. We are proud of you. Make us proud out there,” wrote Mzuni Live on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it is unclear whether President Peter Mutharika – Mzuni’s Chancellor – will grace the launch.

Mutharika was expected to attend a similar ceremony at the University of Malawi on March 22 which is now hazy following reports of an impending strike by members of staff for better perks.
