About 13 people were killed while 18 are battling for their lives after a Zupco bus, travelling from Malawi to Harare, was involved in an accident on Monday night.

The bus involved in an accident with a haulage truck at Mtuli Bridge on the 22km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda highway.
According to a statement from Zimbabwe Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi, the bus driver was trying to avoid a collision with the truck when he lost control, resulting in the bus veering off the road and plunging into a ditch.
Nyathi confirmed that 10 people died on the spot while 3 others died on admission to Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare.
