3 foreign artists to headline Malawi Sand Music Festival
Three international musicians are billed to headline this year’s Sand Music Festival slated for August 29-31 in the lakeshore district of Salima.
The foreign artists are South Africa’s celebrated house singer Professor, Zambia’s finest B1 and Zimbabwe’s urban grooves sensational Nikki.
Sand Music Festival lead coordinator, Nkhwachi Mhango, confirmed they had finalised deals with the artists to perform at the music fest to be held at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach.
“Yes I can officially confirm that Professor, B1 and Nikki are the international acts we will be having at the festival this year,” Mhango told Nyasa Showbiz on Thursday.

The three artists complete the list of performers at the festival which enters its fifth year. Two weeks ago, the organizers released the list of local acts to perform at the music carnival.
There are 17 Malawian artists, among them headliners Paul Banda, Black Missionaries, Lucius Banda, Skeffa Chimoto, Maskal, Edgar ndi Davis, Piksy and Lulu.
Other acts include the Soul Raiders band, Waliko Makhala, Agorosso, Gwamba, Nesnes, King Chambiecco, BarryOne, Trumel and Blakjak.
Apart from music performances, the 2014 Sand Music Festival has also incorporated a red carpet fashion show to be held along the beautiful shores of Lake Malawi.
Advance tickets are available at all Sunbird Hotels across the country and are selling at K13,000. Patrons will be paying K15,000 at the gate if they do not secure tickets in advance.
