The predators also destroyed immeasurable hectares of crop land.

Vincent Kayuni, Area Development Committee chairperson, said they were “living in fear.”

He confirmed the deaths, adding over seven villages have been affected as far as crop damage is concerned.

The 59 year old Mwepechi Nyirongo who is battling for life at Karonga District Hospital after surviving a crocodile attack on Wednesday wondered why government had not yet taken action even after getting reports.

Nyirongo said the community believed the crocodile is “man-made.”

He warned that if government did not take hasty action the community would resort to torching the suspect’s house.

Group Village Headman Mwamberu confirmed reporting the matter to the District Commissioner.

“We’re asking government to take action because this concerns the lives of people,” he said.

The DC could not be immediately reached for comment as we went online.

But, meanwhile, an agricultural expert has described the development as a blow to the people.

Man made? That’s nonsense, that’s why in Malawi there’s no natal death every death is witchcraft hence there are hospitals in each district.wakeup guys,we’re in the 20th century.

There is nothing like man made crocodiles. Malawi living in the paleolithic period yet we are in the 21st century. A country of baboons. No wonder still practicing open defecation.
