9 years jail sentence for sex assualt on teen girl in Balaka
Balaka Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced a 23 year old man to nine years Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) for defiling a 14 year old girl.
According to facts presented in court by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Getrude Kafumbata, the convict Chikondi Kaondo has been sexually abusing with the girl since December 2015.
Kafumbata said Kaondo has been cheating the girl that he will marry her.
She said the matter was revealed after the parents of the victim suspected her of being pregnant and upon questioning, she confessed to have been sleeping with Kaondo.
Passing his judgement, First Grade Magistrate Victor Mandala strongly condemned Kaondo’s behaviour and accused him of denying as well as failing to protect the girl’s right to education.
Magistrate Mandala said people like Kaondo deserve stiff punishment inorder to deter other would be offenders.
He therefore sentenced him to nine years imprisonment with hard labour.
Both the victing and the convict were staying at Miliyoni Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Msamala in Balaka but the original home of the convict is Gada Village, T/A Makwangwala in Ntcheu District.
