Bingu Stadium match nets K47mil in Luso TV Bus Ipite final leg

This is the highest amount of money ever realised from gate collections in the history of Malawi football.

From the gross collection, organisers of the event Luso Television pocketed the lions’ share of K25 million with ground owners- Ministry of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development claiming K9.6 million.

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) levy amounted to K3.8 million while security police personnel got a total of K2.7 million. The gate management firm owned by Lilongwe based Japhet Majekete pocketed K3.2 million.

Match stewards received K1.2 million in total with the rest of the expenses going towards printing of tickets, first aid, fire fighters and other expenses.

As per agreement with the organisers, Wanderers and Bullets did not benefit anything from the gates. Apart from dangling the 26-seater bus valued at K25 million, which was eventually won by Wanderers, the organisers paid for all the teams’ expenses, ranging from transport, meals, accommodation and game bonuses.

Fam general secretary Alfred Gunda, who provided the figures confirmed this is the highest amount ever realised from the gates in any football match.

The Bus Ipite first leg played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on December 26, 2016 grossed K13.6 million.

This makes me cry for our players in Malawi, i won’t let my son play football in Malawi its a total waste of time and future. this is a 1993 model bus and can’t be worth that much, this is a day time robbery. These football institution are just worthless and corrupt.
