Dausi’s verbose annoys Malawi Parliament: Khumbo says stop bombastic words
Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) on Tuesday stopped Minister of Information Nicholas Dausi from answering a question asked by MP for Mulanje Bale to his ministry because of his long-winded style of answers.

The Mulanje Bale legislator Victor Musowa was asking the minister to negotiate with a Mozambican mobile internet provider, Vodacom to start working in the country especially on his area.
“Madam deputy speaker, madam, TNM and Airtel have failed people of Mulanje Bale. Through you madam, I am asking the minister of information to therefore allow the Mozambican company, Vodacom which its internet because its internet is already there,” said Musowa.
Answering the question, Dausi gave a statement full of technical and bombastic words.
The development made the opposition side to start shouting at the minister to the extent that the first deputy speaker Esther Mcheka Chilenje failed to protect him.
Some members from government side also failed to keep their mouth sealed.
MP for Mzimba south west Khumbo Kachali (former State vice president) said the minister should be taught how to respond to questions in Parliament.
“The answer that the minister is providing a ministerial statement that is not suitable to this House or question raised by Mulanje Bale legislature but to a Parliamentary committee of his ministry. Therefore the minister should not waste our time with his long statement,” said Kachali.
Mulanje Bale MP also said “my question has not been answered but this is a very big problem.”
The first deputy speaker asked the minister to sit down and come up with a direct and brief response.
Dausi then assured people of Mulanje Bale constituency in a brief response that his ministry will inform the Malawi Communication Regularly Authority (MACRA) to deal with their problem soon.

Leave CIA trained Dausi alone.
I suggest Mr. Dausi did not learn business communication management at the University level hence doesn’t know anything about the principles of effective communication. This tells why Mr Dausi is a blind window pane communicator.
Inutu mzangoti mzanu Dausi ma bomba not knowing dementia has started working on his pea brained head…he needs to see a psychatriac. Koma ziliko pa Malawi.
This is a public communication challenge of our time. Hon. Dausi need to be delivered on communication demons. Our parliament is full of retired people who until now are not retired. I pray that no one shuld collapse in parliament. Hon Dausi, please learn to speak simple English. Continuation with that kind of communication, one can suggest two things: Either you went to school but school did not go through you or you were not educated in “Malawi”
Yap its high tym he should stop hz bombastic worst cz ain’t helping anymore
In fact, Dausi speaks broken bombastic English. He also breaks English grammar rules in each and every sentence.
Zimene ndimafuna kukomenta zanenedwa kale pamwambapa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy is an example of the quality of ministers we have in government. No wonder there’s failure in everything – education system at all levels, agriculture, health system, tourism, road safety & only they and some chiefs can’t see it. This gives perception of a failed state.
Indeed, our leaders are ashaming. One can not complain about one using the word VERBOSE which simply means: talkative, garrulous, fluent and loquacious.Khumbo, how far did you go with your education to foolishly complain about the simple word VERBOSE? What a shame? That’s why we can not develop Malawi under such leadership.CRY OUR MAGNIFICENT MOTHERLAND MALAWI!!!!!!!
Language is meant for communication. Verbosity is also a sign of ignorance. The English people use simple English in communication. Bombastic words are used only in technical situations eg engineering etc. Standard 8 fellows used to enjoy bombastic words in 1980s’ that fashion is over, then those words were captured from ‘Students Companion’
Kkkkkkkkkkk he mixes Latin and England which r very far apart, the catholic bishop who taught him Latin language didnt realise that he is teaching a criminal who will combine English with Latin whenever he wants to hide the truth, bravo oppostion koma mwazindikila mochedwa
Dausinis just an idiot
Old age has now caught up with Dausi and he simply cannot change. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks!
Infact what Dausi speak is old fashion English
Kkkkkkkkkkkk take care guys, dausi will swallow you
The minister was not wrong because he went to the high school sopano a standrd 4 inu mukati musamve muzifusa kuti mwati chani mwina muziyakhulako chichewa?
Tachita manyazi angoni kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!
I think Dausi does not differentiate the English for drama and that for communication. He needs to go to Skyway university and learn a basic communication subject.
Totally agree with you hon Dausi he have problems of different between communication language and dramatic language kkkkkkkkk
As a minister his role is to communicate government policies and vision to the public. I find it bizarre when Dausi cerebrates when he fails to communicate to his audience. In a policy making forum like national assembly Dausi does not only address the house but also only ordinary Malawians. He can if he wished be doing that at his leisure time with friends and concubines but not when he carries out national duties. Or he can join Chaponda;s son on stage. I would ask Dausi to reflect and look back and see if and how he scores on communication style. And who ever appraises him should mark him minus one. The dangers of failing to communication public policies are serious. What he does is like communicating a government policy to people of Mhunju in Russian. I get sick with his WRONG words.
Dausi is an accurate reflection of the type of government he serves. No serious government can have a person of Dausi’s calibre as its “voice” and “face”.
Pali njira zambiri zobisira umbuli, ina ndi imeneyi; using words that he himself does not understand at times. Koma njira yabwino ndi kukhala chete osalankhula; mwamva a Dausi?
What all of you have commented is very true… What else do I say
Amenewo ndiye angelezi enieni ,mukuti chani?ngati simumamva, just consult your dictionary later.Imeneyo ndi style yake musiyeni ,inu Dausi mwamudziwa lero?right of speech full stop.
Unfortunately, the whole minister of information doesn’t know that he is not communicating when he goes grandiloquen! Shame
Kamuzu used very simple and grammatically correct English. Nicholas Dausi spent many years with Kamuzu but couldn’t learn anything. That time Dausi was a young MYP boy. Do you think lecturing him now he can learn anything? I don’t think so. Simply put; Nicholas Dausi has learning difficulties. Just fire him. Why have a Minister of Information who can’t communicate the message in a simple and direct way?
Infact what I have observed is that most of the words which Dausi uses do not mean what he wants to say. Even the queen herself, the owner of the language, can not understand what Dausi is saying. So, it is not using bombastic words, but he does not know English.
anatulukira pa window , sanalowe mutchalichi
The problem of memorising and parroting. People should be taught that one of the barriers to communication is use of grandiloquent or long winded vocabularly. Receivers of the message fail to deduce the meaning immediately. Instead of getting the message right away, the receiver starts wrestling with the verbose for a meaning before understanding the message. Hon. Dausi should be lectured that use of pretentious vocabulary does not show one’s competence and confidence in language. Rather it shows the opposite.
If u r interested for every Malawian to understand the parliament deliberations make it simple by going back to our native language, if this is not possible then equip ur self to match the Daus’ caribre blame the policy not self brilliance ok where he will speak if not on earth
