NRB ponders on whether to extend ID registration centres in prison

National Registration Bureau (NRB) officials say they will find out if there will be need to open registration centres for national identity cards in prisons.

Norman Fulatira, NRB spokesman: We will consider on that

Spokesperson for NRB, Norman Fulatira said this is an issue that the NRB will explore as the registration exercise goes into another phase.

“We will think of this, this is an area we might explore,” said Fulatira.

He also said the bureau will not leave Lilongwe until every eligible person has registered.

The bureau closed some centres on Saturday amid long queues of people who wanted to register.

Fulatira said four centres have not closed in the Capital City and would only close after everyone who is eligible to register has done so.
