Goodall pledges DPP will develop Kafukule in Mzimba

Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe has revealed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government’s plans to revamp the once vibrant Kafukule Trading Centre in Mzimba District by undertaking various development projects in the area.

Goodall Gondwe: Kafukule needs to be revamped

Gondwe made the revelation at Kafukule Primary School in Traditional Authority Mpherembe when he conducted a rally in company with Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jappie Mhango.

In DPP, Gondwe is Vice President for Northern Region while Mhango is campaign director.

The Finance Minister cited rehabilitation of Ekwendeni-Kafukule road and construction of a secondary school in the area being some of the priority projects that the area will soon get.

“I recall that back in the days; this area was a very busy trading centre with a lot of promising ventures courtesy of a vibrant tobacco industry that existed.

“We had a lot of people who could come here from various areas just to seek economic opportunities, but all is history now, this is why government is committed to revitalizing the area,” said Gondwe.

He said it is disheartening to note that the area does not have a modern secondary school despite its rich potential.

Gondwe then advised people in the area to start thinking critically when they are choosing political leaders.

“I need to ask people here in Kafukule to start viewing politics as a development aspect, hence the need for them to elect political leaders like president, parliamentarians and councilors who are development conscious.

“Gone are the days when politics was being wrongly defined, but now let’s view it as a positive aspect which can bring development,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Inkosana Khwechisa Jere asked government to consider constructing a modern hospital in the area as the current one is too dilapidated

It was vibrant during MCP time, your party Mr. GONDWE, or whatever you are known neglected the TC that used to save many people around that area.
