Focus on corruption in MCP manifesto: Chakwera’s sermon on Malawi future

Strict adherence to the rule of law, fighting corruption,  the establishment of a market economy, good health services and improved education, will be three main focus points of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) election campaign leading up to the 2019 elections.

Chakwera: MCP is ready with Manifesto because we are ready to govern

MCP presidential candidate Lazarus Chakwera has said the party will unveil  its electoral pledges in a Manifesto booklet before Malawi Electoral Commission’s nomination programme rolls out.

The former clergyman wants his administration  to make agriculture business because Malawians cannot continue living on chakudya cha lero (hand-to-mouth) alone.

Chakwera promises to break the vicious cycle of poverty, the politics of taking six backward steps for every forward leap.

He reckons the country is blessed with the potential, intelligent people and plentiful resources to become what its citizens wish.

“Only MCP knows how to solve problems besetting Malawians,” Chakwera said.

“We were the first party to go to a convention and conduct primaries and we have had national youth conferences across this country. The moment the election is done, we will immediately implement our plans for everyone’s benefit,” he said.

Chakwera said MCP  is capable of creating jobs and instilling clean governance.

He said strict application of the rule of law was necessary to combat crime and corruption, stressing that zero tolerance had to apply from the top down to send a strong message against corruption.

  1. MCP is the wickedest party ever !!! Chipani cha nkhanza , chakupha, chozunza, chogulitsa Makadi a Chipani kumsika,

  2. I have read through the article and nowhere do I see anything close to “Preaching” as bwana Masache appears to have observed. All I can glean from the article is someone’s resolve to make a better Malawi.

I am of the view that anyone making disparaging remarks against Chakwera must be a sympathizer of a crooked regime that is bent on raping Malawi.

  3. Why is that no political party is talking about establishing places where youths can spend their free time instead of indulging in beer drinking beer like what Mr. Chiume is propagating at his fuel station. Please work with the private sector to establish big cinema places in all shopping malls. I urge the authorities to Immediately close that in Lilongwe adjacent to the City Mall Mr. Chiume has created a place where the youths are destroying their future. It is embarrassing to see a member of of Parliament should be the first one to spoil other people’s children

    1. Mr creativety i would say u have a point yes, but I also want to remind you that there is a say, first things first” no one can buy airtime without phone that could be madness. For me i would like to see people to get at least equal opportunity i want see young get chance in top offices as well and other things.

  4. Nothing new, stop sleeping, you can do better than this coz you have potential. Learn to articulate things beyond limited and fertile sphere of preaching. High time you grow up beyond your background ( church and chewa )

Think, it’s time you have your own clear key messages that will identify MCP. You don’t need a booklet but a clear message. It’s time for MCP to start moving otherwise will start sinking.

  5. Mbuzi za MCP. Make sure your criticism is constructive. You should also provide some suggestions to make things better.

  6. We’re waiting for that please do fast though some decisions are already made to vote for you mostly for people like me as a royal member.
This will give a chance to the undecided voters to make proper choice.
U have been the first in everything , just do it once more.

  7. Nothing new to offer Malawians MIA will be milking the govt if MCP was to win his an investor not a donor he will surely needs his funds and that wouldn’t come from a mere VP salary! As for our brother we have heard of allegations of misusing funds at Assemblies of God building mansions gave his pay grade (we stop dont how this is) but we not taking no chances of empty bins no more APM is the last! We need leaders who can make future decisions in the future they will be apart of!

  8. I will believe you once you tell Malawians the source of funds with which you are constructing your near finishing over K800 million house at Maula, otherwise your hands are not clean of corruption.

  9. Chilima wakatipusika ise wakumupoto kuti wanthu mboma la JB akupokera tuma change tuchoko kweni pala ise tanjila waka m’boma pamoza na APM , wanthu wonse a civil servants , ma private sectors wonse azamkwamba kupokera masalary yapachanya kweni sono wayambanso kutipusika uku walikutipusika kale. Amalawi tiyeni tichenjere nausogoleri wa ( power hungly) ndiwo uli mwa musogoleri wa UTM.

  10. Going to the convention first does not mean your are the best party in the land. However, your ideas are becoming impressive everyday. Corruption has killed this nation. You go everywhere at road traffic, passport office, police, education, health, institutions responsible for awarding contracts, there is rampant corruption. Tell us how you will stamp this disease out and we will be happy once more as a nation. Not this ‘mauism’ we hear everyday from most of these parties only campaigning for positions next year
