Handball association appeal for more funding on minority sports

Handball Association of Malawi (HAM) General Secretary Davie Fumbani Kumwenda has asked government to revisit annual funding for minority sport such as handball, saying K500, 000 they got from National Sports Council is not enough to run the sport.

Kumwenda said on MIJ radio that the association want to improve the sport at grass root level especially in Primary and Secondary school.

Handball is a sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outfield players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball to throw it into the goal of the other team.

A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team with the most goals scored wins.
