It was dead north during MCP regime – Atupele

The presidential running mate for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), United Democratic Party (UDF) in the forthcoming fresh presidential polls Atupele Muluzi on Tuesday stormed Karonga with his campaign trail to sell the two parties’ alliance to prospective voters ahead of the June 23 elections.

Flanked by DPP  vice president for the north,  Goodall Gondwe, treasurer general Jappie Mhango and regional governor Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, Muluzi told the gathering at Karonga Freedom that the two biggest parties in the country joined forces to serve and develop Malawi better.

“These two major democratic parties have a lot in common. That is why we swiftly made an alliance to make sure that we consolidate our democratic values and combine development agendas to serve you better. Therefore, come June 23, vote for Arthur Peter Mutharika”,” Muluzi said.

The youthful Muluzi said people should not be carried away with the  Tonse Alliance composition of the nine political parties as the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) failed to develop the north for 30 years.

Said Muluzi: “”During the 30 years that MCP ruled Malawi, there is totally nothing that you can point at that the party did in the northern region. It is the UDF that constructed Mzuzu High Court, Mzuzu Central Hospital and Mzuzu Auction Floors. This, therefore, is a clear indication that MCP and its alliance partners cannot develop this region.”

Muluzi further said should the electorates vote for the DPP, the lakeshore district will register meaningful development that will include upgrading of feeder roads and tourism facilities to boost the industry.

Taking his turn, Member of Parliament for Karonga North Constituency Mungasulwa Mwambande, told Muluzi to relay the message to President Mutharika that key roads of Ighembe-Kitwika, Songwe-Ngana and Pusi-Atupele needs to be rehabilitated to enhance movements of goods and people.

“Let this message reach the President. Rehabilitation of these roads is key to socio economic development since people here are farmers who depend upon farming to eke a living. And again, there are cooperatives within the district that need transformers for electricity for their rice shellers. You head the ministry for this, please help these women,” pleaded Mwambande.

On his part, Paramount Chief Kyungu of Chitipa and Karonga implored all political parties to practice issue based campaign to avoid political violence.

At least Kamuzu tried his best. Look at Mzuzu to Karonga Road. MZUZU TEACHERS COLLEGE BROUGHT electricity to the North. Kasungu to Mzuzu roads The Chikangawa pine plantation. This is just to mention a few. Your Father Bakili he did nothing for the North but what he did was to kill Malawi railways so that his trucks could be bringing goods s from Rsa and Dar ed salaam.

  2. ndiye tate wako atatenga dziko wat happened????? iwe sikuyamba uku kupitako ku North.
kuli chi bakha cija ci goodal pompous idiot anangojudula ndalama tate wako atalowa ufumu ndalama kumangogawana ngati popcorn 8n the name of ngongole. mpaka lelo sizinabwezedwe. ungatiuze cani lelo.fusa tate wakoyoyo zomwe anacita kutukula North.
    IDDIOTS

  3. What DPP and UDF have in common is the belief that if you empower malawians, they will not need you for ever but keep them wanting you/rely on you by among other things rendering agriculture useless as the malawi population depends on it, disable Admarc, agricultural inputs including fertiliser should not be affordable, no creation of jobs etc etc and once in a while distribute things for free.

  4. Embarrassing defeat awaiting DPP/UDF thieves.

North mwayifuna pano. DPP/UDF has neglected the north for the past 26 years. All the ville and hate messages spouted by DPP leadership including Gredezer doesn’t get forgotten by Northerners. Watch this space.

Some of us have been doing spot informal surveys and DPP/UDF stand very little chance. Northern region will decide the winner. And that will be MCP/UTM.

    Landslide for MCP/UTM.

    1. Keep dreaming. Have you seen Chilima carrying that 50kg bag the past 4 days? Chilima has already been knocked down and deflated after Chakwera told him he will not stand as president for TONSE alliance in 2025 and he will not be Finance Minister. Keep bleating about MCP-UTM.

      1. Wait for the weekend and besides do not forget that the electorates already decided to vote Peter Muthalika out of office based on the DPP’s 14 years(8 years for Bingu and 6 years for Peter) poor performance while in Government you will have the shock of your life, you think Chilima is dull and visionless like Atupele who runs away from exams??? The electorates deciding factors include Quota system practiced since 2011, the Loyd Muhara Lomwelisation of senior Government positions, the lomwelisation of Government businesses, the age of APM, at 80 years he has proved useless, sleepy and many more.

    2. Kkklkk chirungamo. Akuti they have gone back to the drawing board kukakambirana. Minister of finance inalonjezedwa kale kwa mwana wa JB kkkk

  5. I love this boy Atupele. At 41 years old, he thinks exactly like his father. When he grows up, he will be a champion in politics in the country….(but he has to grow up)

    1. You call Bakili a champion of politics? No wonder he was knocked down with his third term bid, later knocked down by Bingu.Sold his party to DPP and other people has been using his son to gain political mileage. He is such a laughing stock.

      1. Nanga si northerners rush and invest in the centre and south. Look at the person from the centre amakatukula kwawo, very difficult to hear that he invested in Blantyre. Even people from Mangochi. No matter how long they may live in SA. They invest in Mangochi. If the mindset changes and they invest in the north, Malawians will be forced to go up north for services. The north is blessed with educated people who have skill sets that most Malawians require. However organisation is a problem. Mangochi even has an organisation looking into the development of the district organised by individuals. Intelligence is good but Solomon asked for wisdom for a reason. When it comes to education the north is respected for doing a good job. Now you find that northerners are busy constructing schools in By and LLW. If indeed they organised a consortium and opened these up north would Malawians not send their children there?

    1. Still it is thus why we want change now. All you see was there during Kamuzu and MCP

    2. Foseki
Before Kamuzu came but later things started to improve. Road from kasungu to Mzuzu had tarmac. Mzuzu to Karonga via Chiweta had tarmac. What did Bakili do zoro koma kuba ndiye number one

  6. As far as I can remember, MCP rule ended in 1994, some 26 years ago,, with coming in of UDF. The question should be: what have UDF and DPP done for the North during that period?.

    1. I guess you also believe if the Nazis came back to power the world will be a better place looking at their record. Chipani cha nkhanza ndichankhanza basi. phechepeche mwa njobvu salowa kawiri. atleast with DPP and UDF you have the freedom to be writing bullshit here. With Mcp you cant even cough. Look at how Chakwera is trying to silence Chilima. you really think chilima will have a voice if chakwera would win??

      1. Nazi’s put Germany to Work and pulled the World out of a Depression yet other policy’s were not that great. History should not be forgotten we all must learn to move on.
The time is RIGHT FOR CHANGE

      2. The tonse alliance is carrying 9 parties therefore if there’s anything to discussed should be put on the round table discussion. If the tonse alliance in their signing ceremony discussed on whether Who is to take this position or the other after getting into the government okay then that should be kept loyalty as to the assigned to. If it was the agreement in secret why should it be publicised like as if they are rushing ? I think they would have set aside from announcing the future positions like they did to who was going to be the torch bearer of the tonse alliance till they got to the nomination signing ceremony. If they are to save the will of Malawi it’s too early to pronounce on who to be instead of what to do after being elected to the nation. We believe in tonse alliance for the betterment of Malawi than ever before one party and even multiparty , the tonse alliance will change Malawi as a whole and individuals.

  7. Question is WHAT DID The President Do in the LAST 6 Years Right NOTHING, now all this they opposition did nothing we will do something. YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE but NOTHING. VOTE NEW ERA of Government VOTE CHANGE

  8. Atupele, are you blind or stupid? Just take a look at the people you are talking to, and their dwellings in the background. Do you call that development after 26 years of multiparty? Wasn’t it your father who was telling us that with the coming of multiparty everyone and every household would be rich?
Worst part is udf and dpp built a few roads but neglected alot of good roads in both rural and urban areas which were built by mcp. Alot things have gone from bad to worse in past 26 years under your father’s and his friend’s guard so there’s nothing sensible that you can tell us now.

  9. Go tell your dad to give us back our Mk1.7billion . And did you say countrys two biggest parties, kikikikiiiiiiii. I will tell you what, MCP and UTM are the country’s biggest parties. As per last elections MCP and UTM would have been first and second I believe, had it not been for the rigging by grandpa’s party.
Stop fooling yourself Atu, YOU’RE LOSING THESE ELECTIONS HEAVILY.

  10. If the North was dead during MCP then your Father BAKILI MULUZI buried it 6 feet under !!!!

  11. You are laughable atupele malawi failed to develop under 30 years of kamuzu and mcp yet when you were going to karonga you used the same road the bid kamuzu built for you to reach karonga and be uttering your arrogance .what a fallancy.shame.Atupele ukuchepetsa your chances for future president.People will never trust you again.

  12. UDF inapanga chiani pa zaka 10 inakhala mboma kupatula kutinamiza nsapato, bridge from NKB to LKM. kuphatikizira apo kutibera ndalama. Ng’oooooo!!!!!!!!! kuvotera dpp nkubwezeranso udf mboma zomwe aMalawi sitikufuna

  13. It’s DEAD MALAWI, never mind about the north. What did your thief dad do to Malawi other than pushing it further into poverty?

  14. and what did UDF do? turning Mzuzu TTC into a University? What did DPP do? laying foundation stones? Tell those babies whom you registered in Phalombe to vote for you. Ruining the lives of children because of greed. 9 year old having an ID of 19 year old. This will back fire soon. Ana amene aja adzakulirirani.

  15. Funny Guy ….Even the Mzuzu TTC which your father thought it Deserved to be University was Constructed by Kamuzu …UDF cheated People that it would construct a Real University which up to Now has not been done …Samusani Mzuzu University titoyifuna TTC ya Kamuzu …

  16. Rute please ask Dausi and Ntaba what you are saying else we do not know. What we is the killing of Albinos last year in which same people above are mentioned killers that have mounted in DPP. Njauju, Chasowa etc.

    1. Chikangawa forest was a development to the Northerners a gift from MCP and was sold by this young atupele’s daddy bakili muluzi

    2. Spot on.

That little dweeb Atupele doesn’t know the facts or pretends he doesn’t know.

  17. Development is a slow process. Bakili Muluzi who is your father is one of the most useless persons a woman and man have begotten. He could not connect the Chitipa Road. Even up to now the Chiweta road is treacherous and needs rehabilitation and widening. Our friends in Tanzania have redone the road from Mbeya to Dar. Ife here we are failing to do the same from Lumbadzi to Jenda to say the least. Bakili Muluzi killed the railway system. Now you are in the pole position to take over from the sick and old Muthalika . Do you think we like you? Forget to get even 10% from the North. Just concentrate on the Eastern Region.

  18. all infrastructure in the north were built by MCP. tell your father to honor the shoes and bridge from nkhatabay first to likoma before you new promises. mwana wa njoka ndi njoka yomwe.

      1. ….because, it had not reached the level of development that it needed…how about Mwanza Neno citizens walking BUYA, BUYA?

        1. Mzuzu university now was before now a teacher’s training school, then bakili muluzi turned it to university. Something else? @nafenso.

    1. ….and that more has eluded DPP Govt, UDF cannot achieve them but TONSE ALLIANCE govt….

    2. Don’t waste your time. You will not vote on behalf of northerners. Tikulangani amfiti inu. Mwatikhomelera ndi quota.

  19. Hey Baby, Mzuzu High Court and Mzuzu Action Floors were already MCP Government plans and your father simply adopted them. So, don’t claim to be your fathers dream plans. Tell them who stole MK1.7bn?

  20. In more than 31 years, MCP did NOTHING in the north. It killed thousands of northerners, imprisoned thousands and forced thousands into exile. It killed Dunduzu Chisiza, Yatuta Chisiza, Orton Chirwa and many more….. and imprisoned Vera Chirwa, Aleke Banda….etc.

    1. Now, how many has both UDF and DPP killed….do you remember the 2011, Mzuzu massacre? we havent forgotten yet!!! How about Njauju, Chasowa, Stambuli etc

  21. Any sane Malawian will not listen to such pathetic rhetoric claims MCT/UTM boma, period…..! talk of development what had DPP done in the north in the last 5 years…..kuba basi!

    1. What did MCP do in the north in 31 years. This kusayamika, kupupuluma and selfish attitude by people like you is what destroyed AFORD. Mukhalira zomwezo.

      1. So what have DPP done for the North? And Atupele do not forget your father plundered the econmy of Malawi. Keep trying but your time is up

      2. kagwere kutchire uko mwana wa nalikukuti iwe! despite his short comings kamuzu opened up the north and built many of the hospitals, xuls, roads etc.

        1. Kamuzu produced educated people from the north. Mukutaya waka nyengo yinu. Take your cheap propaganda kwanu konko ku mwana. Northerners think far ahead of what will be said after understanding the topic.

      3. We do not eat Aford. Our children are in school, university and lucrative jobs. Basi

          1. Vuto lamalawi timafuna muthu akakhala pa udindo azitiyendera makomo kutipasa la sugar ndiye timuyamika ubwino wa Dadi uzaoneka mukalowesa abusa
