It was dead north during MCP regime – Atupele

The presidential running mate for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), United Democratic Party (UDF) in the forthcoming fresh presidential polls Atupele Muluzi on Tuesday stormed Karonga with his campaign trail to sell the two parties’ alliance to prospective voters ahead of the June 23 elections.

Flanked by DPP  vice president for the north,  Goodall Gondwe, treasurer general Jappie Mhango and regional governor Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, Muluzi told the gathering at Karonga Freedom that the two biggest parties in the country joined forces to serve and develop Malawi better.

“These two major democratic parties have a lot in common. That is why we swiftly made an alliance to make sure that we consolidate our democratic values and combine development agendas to serve you better. Therefore, come June 23, vote for Arthur Peter Mutharika”,” Muluzi said.

The youthful Muluzi said people should not be carried away with the  Tonse Alliance composition of the nine political parties as the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) failed to develop the north for 30 years.

Said Muluzi: “”During the 30 years that MCP ruled Malawi, there is totally nothing that you can point at that the party did in the northern region. It is the UDF that constructed Mzuzu High Court, Mzuzu Central Hospital and Mzuzu Auction Floors. This, therefore, is a clear indication that MCP and its alliance partners cannot develop this region.”

Muluzi further said should the electorates vote for the DPP, the lakeshore district will register meaningful development that will include upgrading of feeder roads and tourism facilities to boost the industry.

Taking his turn, Member of Parliament for Karonga North Constituency Mungasulwa Mwambande, told Muluzi to relay the message to President Mutharika that key roads of Ighembe-Kitwika, Songwe-Ngana and Pusi-Atupele needs to be rehabilitated to enhance movements of goods and people.

“Let this message reach the President. Rehabilitation of these roads is key to socio economic development since people here are farmers who depend upon farming to eke a living. And again, there are cooperatives within the district that need transformers for electricity for their rice shellers. You head the ministry for this, please help these women,” pleaded Mwambande.

On his part, Paramount Chief Kyungu of Chitipa and Karonga implored all political parties to practice issue based campaign to avoid political violence.

At least Kamuzu tried his best. Look at Mzuzu to Karonga Road. MZUZU TEACHERS COLLEGE BROUGHT electricity to the North. Kasungu to Mzuzu roads The Chikangawa pine plantation. This is just to mention a few. Your Father Bakili he did nothing for the North but what he did was to kill Malawi railways so that his trucks could be bringing goods s from Rsa and Dar ed salaam.

What DPP and UDF have in common is the belief that if you empower malawians, they will not need you for ever but keep them wanting you/rely on you by among other things rendering agriculture useless as the malawi population depends on it, disable Admarc, agricultural inputs including fertiliser should not be affordable, no creation of jobs etc etc and once in a while distribute things for free.

Embarrassing defeat awaiting DPP/UDF thieves.

North mwayifuna pano. DPP/UDF has neglected the north for the past 26 years. All the ville and hate messages spouted by DPP leadership including Gredezer doesn’t get forgotten by Northerners. Watch this space.

Some of us have been doing spot informal surveys and DPP/UDF stand very little chance. Northern region will decide the winner. And that will be MCP/UTM.

Landslide for MCP/UTM.

Keep dreaming. Have you seen Chilima carrying that 50kg bag the past 4 days? Chilima has already been knocked down and deflated after Chakwera told him he will not stand as president for TONSE alliance in 2025 and he will not be Finance Minister. Keep bleating about MCP-UTM.

Wait for the weekend and besides do not forget that the electorates already decided to vote Peter Muthalika out of office based on the DPP’s 14 years(8 years for Bingu and 6 years for Peter) poor performance while in Government you will have the shock of your life, you think Chilima is dull and visionless like Atupele who runs away from exams??? The electorates deciding factors include Quota system practiced since 2011, the Loyd Muhara Lomwelisation of senior Government positions, the lomwelisation of Government businesses, the age of APM, at 80 years he has proved useless, sleepy and many more.

I love this boy Atupele. At 41 years old, he thinks exactly like his father. When he grows up, he will be a champion in politics in the country….(but he has to grow up)

Nanga si northerners rush and invest in the centre and south. Look at the person from the centre amakatukula kwawo, very difficult to hear that he invested in Blantyre. Even people from Mangochi. No matter how long they may live in SA. They invest in Mangochi. If the mindset changes and they invest in the north, Malawians will be forced to go up north for services. The north is blessed with educated people who have skill sets that most Malawians require. However organisation is a problem. Mangochi even has an organisation looking into the development of the district organised by… Read more »

As far as I can remember, MCP rule ended in 1994, some 26 years ago,, with coming in of UDF. The question should be: what have UDF and DPP done for the North during that period?.

I guess you also believe if the Nazis came back to power the world will be a better place looking at their record. Chipani cha nkhanza ndichankhanza basi. phechepeche mwa njobvu salowa kawiri. atleast with DPP and UDF you have the freedom to be writing bullshit here. With Mcp you cant even cough. Look at how Chakwera is trying to silence Chilima. you really think chilima will have a voice if chakwera would win??

The tonse alliance is carrying 9 parties therefore if there’s anything to discussed should be put on the round table discussion. If the tonse alliance in their signing ceremony discussed on whether Who is to take this position or the other after getting into the government okay then that should be kept loyalty as to the assigned to. If it was the agreement in secret why should it be publicised like as if they are rushing ? I think they would have set aside from announcing the future positions like they did to who was going to be the torch… Read more »
