Court convicts Chanthunya over Zimbabwean girlfriend murder

The  High Court in Zomba had found Misozi Chanthunya guilty of murdering his pregnant Zimbabwean girlfriend, Linda Gasa in 2010 and convicted him.

Misozi: Murder convict for killing Gasa (insert)

Judge Ruth Chinangwa in her judgement said Chanthunha  was responsible for the death of Gasa at his family’s private cottage in Monkey Bay, Mangochi, where the body was found entombed under concrete.

Chanthunya was in live relationship with Zimbabwean woman who was studying at College of Accountancy in Blantyre.

Court records show that he poisoned the girlfriend in Mangochi where the two had gone to discuss a pregnancy and buried her body in a cottage.

It later transpired that Gasa did not have the pregnancy.

Chanthunya then fled to South Africa before he was extradited back to Malawi a few years ago to answer the murder charges.

He was arrested by Interpol in Rustenburg, South Africa, on January 23 2012 after being on the run for 17 months.

  1. Chathunya is heartless. If he never killed her why did he run away and when he was contesting his extradition why did he say he was afraid because Malawi had death sentence. If he never killed why was he afraid of death sentence.

  2. If one does not want the girl you dont kill at all. Why did you not just end up the friendship instead of killing? This boy MUST BE KILLED REALLY. Even your relatives attended to this nonsensical altitude deliberately caused by yourself. Shit!

    1. He was influenced by his South African wife to get rid of Linda, she should face the music as well. Very cruel people.

  3. Chathunya was shielded by DPP. Monga aliyense akuona DPP simulacrum. Mfuseni Chisale, Jomo Osaman

  4. The coming in of Joyce Banda and joining Tonse Alliance him thought that he will be saved. No, killing is a very special case world over. The guy ran to South Africa and he was even refusing to be extradited to Malawi saying the death penalty remains intact. Boy, you were not clever at all and one wonders why this case has taken all these years. Your lawyer just wants to assist your family eat the money and he knows the truth of the whole matter. Sorry boy!.

  5. It was about time this murderer was off our streets and checked in at Mikuyu prison. Linda Gasa can truly rest in peace now.
