Mulli Company vows to support Joyce Banda govt

Malawi’s business conglomerates, the Mulli Brothers Holdings Limited , which was believed to had d close links with  the Mutharika administration has pledged to help the Joyce Banda government.

Business tycoon Leston Mulli who heads  the company i told a presser on Sunday that he evokes the policy of his company to “work with government of the day.”

He said “We always support a government of the day.”

Mulli also brushed claims that late Bingu wa Mutharika had massive vested interest in Mulli Brothers Holdings.

“From Kamuzu Banda to the government of Bakili Muluzi, then Mutharika rule, as private sector we have been supporting the government. We will continue to help the government of Her Excellency Joyce Banda in the development of our nation,” he said.

“I am a businessman and not a politician,” he stressed.

Apart from transport and produce business, the Mulli company also has a licence for Malawi’s fourth telecom company Celcom Limited which was awarded a dual fixed and mobile telephony licence by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) in May 2011.

Under its licence, Celcom must provide fixed-line and mobile services by October 2012.

Mulhakho

Asked on the future of Mulhakho wa Alhomwe with the demise of its founding patron, Mulli said the grouping would continue operating as it is a heritage organization.

He was quick to say, however, that Bingu’s death is a big blow to the cultural group.

He wished the soul of Mulupale Mapwiya Bingu wa Muthalika to rest in peace. Mulli was an active member to the Mulhakho wa Alhomwe and his company was a major sponsor.
