Tigers stun Civo, Silver run riot

Coach Leo Mpulula’s hopes that he can lead Azam Tigers  to challenge the TNM Super League title were kept alive at the weekend when his club chalked maximum six points from two games with a win against Blue Eagles on Saturday and Civo United on Sunday.

Civo have been leading the TNM Super League with 18 points but were no match to Tigers.

Tigers set out their credentials as title challengers with good performance and  won  1-0 at Civo Stadium.

Mpulula was instrumental in the grand performance of Blantyre United in the Super League last season having built and developed the team from Escom United reserves.

He was hired a fortnight ago after Tigers sacked Macdonald ‘Anginde’ Mtetemela  as coach over poor run of results.

Mpulula immediately rejuvenated the Kau-Kau boys winning is first match against Bullets FC.

“We can fight for the title. Its mission possible,” Mpulula told Nyasa Times.

In another TNM Super League matches, Big Bullets shared a point each with Mafco FC after a goalless draw in Balaka.

This was the first game for Lloyd Nkhwazi in-charge of the Bullets since r Gilbert Chirwa resigned.

In Mzuzu, after falling to collect maximum three points on Saturday against Moyale, Silver Strikers came with new ideas on Sunday by hammering pales Super League debutants Embangweni United.

The Bankers walloped Embangweni 4-0.
