Police Arrest Suspect in Fake Charity Shield Ticket Scam
Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a counterfeit football ticket scam linked to the high-profile Charity Shield match between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC and Mighty Wanderers FC.

The suspect, Wyson Kamangira, was apprehended on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium while allegedly attempting to sell fake tickets to unsuspecting football fans.
According to Lingadzi Police Station Public Relations Officer Maria Kumwenda, Kamangira was caught in the act and failed to give a convincing explanation about the source of the tickets upon his arrest.
Police say they recovered 168 counterfeit tickets from the suspect, along with K338,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal sales—pointing to what investigators suspect could be a wider, coordinated scam targeting major football events.
Kumwenda confirmed that authorities have since launched deeper investigations to track down other individuals possibly involved in the production and distribution of the fake tickets.
Kamangira is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to selling counterfeit products.
He comes from Mtuwa Village under Traditional Authority Wimbe in Kasungu.
The arrest has raised fresh concerns over security and fraud at major sporting events, with police warning the public to remain vigilant and only purchase tickets through official channels.
