Shanil reverts to Catholic Church

Shanil Muluzi, former First Lady and ex-wife to the former president Bakili Muluzi has returned to her original Catholic Church after parting ways with her husband.

She now prays at Balaka Catholic Parish and is the patroness for Radio Maria at the parish and entire Balaka.

On Saturday, she attended a day long workshop organized for Radio Maria volunteers at Balaka.

Said Shanil in part:  “Jesus is found in many situations especially in tragedies like funeral. We should avail ourselves in such situations and not jot where there is joy. When we go through the Bible, Jesus usually associated himself with the depressed. Let us promote our Catholicism and one way is to be available to those in pain.”

Shanil: Back to Catholic

During the workshop, the facilitator, Fr. Elizeo Nthalika, who is also parish priest for Nguludi Parish in Blantyre Archdiocese, urged the volunteers to spend time and read the Bible and other Holy Scriptures to be able to attract people that they serve to be close to God.

Shanil left her Catholic Church when she married Bakili Muluzi after he parted ways with Anne. She joined Islam and married Muluzi according to the Islam culture.

After Shanil and Bakili divorced recently, the former First Lady went back to her home Balaka where she is now living.

Shanil, a former teacher, is a daughter of Catholic Catechist.
