UDF urge supporters in Zomba to register in voters roll
The United Democratic Front (party) as urged its members and supporters to start preparing for the voter registration exercise which will start 22 July 2013.
Party spokesperson Ken Ndanga said this when he addressed a public rally at Namadidi Trading Center in Zomba on Monday.
Ndanga, who was accompanied by the party deputy director of security and former ambassador to Egypt, Yahaya Mmadi told the gathering that included chiefs that registration is a very important components of the elections and urged UDF local leaders to take it seriously.
“We must mobilize as many of our supporters as possible to go and register because you can only vote next year if you register as a voter,” said Ndanga.
Ndanga said the country is facing a lot of challenges including an ailing economy and told the people that the only solution is to vote for leadership that is visionary. He said UDF party is ready to turn around things if voted into power next.
He told the rally that the UDF party has a good programs that will bring sustainable development to the country and will not waste time on cheap programs that are aimed at fooling voters.
The UDF spokesperson urged the supporters to support the candidature of Atupele Muluzi as president in 2014.
Taking his turn Mmadi told the gathering that the UDF party will soon conduct primary elections for both councilors and members of parliament and urged aspirant to start canvassing for support.
He assured the people that the primaries will be open and transparent and that no candidate will be imposed on the people.
