Reporters Khunga, Maganga dump Times for Nation, MANEB
Malawi News Femail Supplement Editor Suzgo Khunga and Daily Times newspaper reporter Simeon Maganga have resigned from Blantyre Newspapers Limited (BNL) also called Times Group, which used to be Malawi’s leading publishing company.
Khunga has resigned from her position after securing a job at a rival Nations Publications Limited (NPL) whereas Maganga is joining Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) as its Public Relation Officer.
NPL has also taken on board The Daily Times’ page layout designer Matteus Mapiko.
They are currently “serving notices”, according to inside sources.
“The BNL’s MD (Leonard Chikadya) summoned Maganga for negotiations but the company failed to counter offer and match Maneb’s irresistible numeration package.
“Apart from reporters, NPL has also hired four guys who were working at BNL’s advertising department. They have ‘crossed the floor’ because of good take home packages,” said one of the sources.
NPL also recently recruited former BNL reporters Rex Chikoko and Watipaso Mzungu Jr. to beef up their team.
Isaac Masingati, a graduate in journalism from Polytechnic, University of Malawi, recently resigned from newspaper giant BNL Times Group where he was working as Supplements Editor after being offered the job by the Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN).
