Mockery of justice? NAM bans timekeeper, Diamonds cleared

Netball Association of Malawi ( NAM) has handed timekeeper Dalitso Chinyama with a one month ban and a fine of K30,000 for a scuffle during the  GOtv Netball Champions League match at Blantyre Youth Centre last year.

The incident happened on October 18, 2014 during a match against Complex Tigresses when some Diamonds players allegedly manhandled Chinyama, accusing her of meddling with the time which led to their lose.

Some players for Diamonds also exchanged bitter words with Nam officials and umpires.

Diamonds were ummoned to a hearing, which was  set up by NAM.

The disciplinary committee summoned Diamonds coach Griffin Saenda, team doctor a Mrs Chilemba, skipper Carol Mtukule-Ngwira and other senior players for a hearing.

The committee’s chairperson was  Daud Ntanthiko.

However, in a verdict which Nyasa Times has seen it, Diamonds has been cleared while Chinyama who was beaten is the one who has been slappedwith a ban and fine.

Nam states that without any video footage, Chinyama has no proof that she was beaten, but surprisingly they have banned Diamonds shooter Grace Chazungulira for being also in forefront during the fracas  and fined her  despite no any footage.

Chazungulira has been baned three months with K20,000 fine.

I want to find out one thing: Does your computer notify you of typographical errors you make while typing your “stories”? If it doesn’t please buy another one. Good luck!

  2. I like netball spectators, I will be watching netball now. Its definitely better than football. You can’t get spectators like these at a football match

  3. Izi ndi za a zimayi ndipo zimachitika mwachizimayi. That’s the government and private companies do not take netball seriously. they know kuti ndi za chizimayi.

  4. I am impressed that Captain and Coach of Diamonds were called to disciplinary committee, and the umpire was not, but it ends up that the umpire is guilty and the Diamonds team is not guilty.

  5. Incident happened on 18 October 2014 but the pic shows 07/12/2014 spectators who watched the fracas…mukunamiza ndani

  6. who was supposed to provide the footage? I mean if anything,it is in the interest of the sponsors to video-tape the match and events after. This is future reference. NAM ,you are reaching the sky in your doings.

  7. Chilungamo palibe. If there was no video footage how is NAM able to determine who was wrong? What evidence do they have? Zina ukaona kamba anga mwala!
