Bullets win, Nomads draw again: Malawi TNM Super League
Big Bullets on Saturday produced a master class performance in the second half to beat Epac FC 4-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in a TNM Super League encounter played before a huge crowd.
The victory means the Peoples Team have finished on the top slot in the first round on the log table with 32 points, five points ahead of second-placed Mighty Be Forward Wanderers, who drew 1-1 against Red Lions at Zomba Community Centre Ground.
On the part of the Nomads, their result means they have drawn twice in two weeks after also drawing with Moyale Barracks and they have finished 26 points in the first round.
Back on the pitch at Kamuzu Stadium, Jaffali Chande gave Bullets the lead through a powerful header before Clement Mvula’s equalizer after Sankhani Mkandawire made a silly blunder.
The Capital City out-fit were a better side in this half, as they dominated the game especially on the midfield.
Epac also popularly known as, “Njenjete zaku Lilongwe” outplayed the Peoples team but their strikers lacked composure inside the box.
On the wings, Epac made sure to tame Fischer Kondowe and Dalitso Sailesi forcing the Peoples Team to really on midfielders to supply passes to their strikers.
In the second half, Big Bullets came with different ideas and they grabbed three goals courtesy of man of the match Chiukepo Msowoya, Mussa Manyenje and Dalitso Sailesi.
The second goal came after Msowoya connected a low pass from Kondowe to send the Biafra stands into wild celebrations.
Msowoya is now joint top scorer with Lions’ Kumbukani Mwambene on eight goals.
Epac tried hard to search for goals but it was in vain as Bullets carried the day.
In post match interview, Epac FC coach Abasi Makawa conceded defeat but accused some of his players for lack of commitment.
“We have lost the match because some of the players lacked commitment. We need to buy some players in the second round otherwise the way we played in the first half we could have scored many goal if commitment was there,” said Makawa.
Big Bullets coach Mabvuto Lungu, was delighted with the victory saying his charges played according to instructions.
And Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmail said: “This is a great finish of the first-round. An Eid Ul Fitr gift for our loyal fans.”
At Dedza Stadium, Fisd Wizards woes continue as they went down 3-2 to Dedza Young Soccer, while Civo United beat Mzuni FC 1-0 at Mzuzu Stadium.
In Zomba, substitute Luka Milanzi’s 74th minute goal was enough to secure a point for Be Forward Wanderers to hold Red Lions to a 1-all draw at Zomba Community Centre ground.
Milanzi had only spent 60 seconds on the field of play after he came in for Malumbo Gondwe. It was also his first touch of the ball after he was released by Kondwani Kumwenda outside the goal area.
He released a thunderbolt giving the soldiers’ goal minder Clement Mlomba no chance to the relief of the Nomads faithful.
Innocent Bokosi had given Red Lions the lead in the 63rd minute when his low shot went below the diving Richard Chipuwa in goals. He received the ball from the middle of the park and advanced towards Wanderers’ goal. This was Bokosi’s ninth goal of the season, one ahead of Green Harawa of Silver Strikers.<
Bullets as first round winners of TNM Super League, they will go away with one million kwacha prize.
