  1. Matama boma latonse alliance
    Mmati ndalama muboma zilimo

When malawi will be free from Donars and loans
Ooooh crying for my beloved Nyasalande.

  2. Inu inu Lilongwe kasungu basi Mmmm ochakwera bwanji osangoti upitilile mpaka Mzuzu why kuthela pa kasungu basi is because centre region imathela kasungu chani APA tiganiza Ngati tsankhotu . Bolanso mukanati Lilongwe mpaka Mzuzu, then Mzuzu mpaka karonga naonso ngofunikila ndi ma business aku Tanzania ma track ndi ama business mayende amavutikila

  3. Very good development if it can really start, building a morden Road (M1) from Chitipa to Nsanje would be the best thing MCP/Tonse gvt can do in these first 5 years, even if it can be the only thing they will do the whole 5 years I would still be happy. we have lost alot of lives because of poor condition of M1 and yet DPP paid a blind eye by still engaging useless companies like SAWA, PREM AND MOTAL ENGIL. this time we need real companies to come and build our roads to international stds

  4. Lilongwe Kasungu is indeed in bad shape.
But Mr mia tell the president we need the road from Mzimba to Rumphi via lake kazuni done

  5. Help me understand this.aroad from the airport to Mzimba and connect chiweta karonga, and there is another project lilongwe kasungu.will the road from the airport to Mzimba not pass through Kasungu?

  6. Bwino nawo ma China. Aren’t we we over borrowing from China. Please take stock of our indebtedness to our Chinese friends who despise Africans. Ask Nigeria about how it’s citizens are treated in China. These people are onto something.
That said, which has more traffic, LL-Kasungu, BT-Lilongwe? Let’s think about Nkhotakota-Dwangwa.

  7. Whats fantastic with this piece is the lack of ANY mention about a dual carriage road between Bt & Llw.
I could have sworn this is the most important/busiest road in the country….

  8. Much as there’s progress on the construction of modern asphalt roads remember the Fort Maguire Makanjira Mangochi to be on course as well

  9. Bwana Mia we all know that you specifically wanted to be a Minister of Transport so that you could eat big from Mota Engil and other contractors. Malawians see you growing fatter by the day. You are really eating big Bwana Mia.

  10. DPP government had great development plans for the Country. When APM was saying that he has already sourced funds for Three lane road from Parliamnent to Shoprite ndimati akuteta. When he said there will be duo road from Lilongwe Community to Airport through area 18 Round about ndimati akuteta.

After 2 months in government, Chakwera has announced the same on who is funding and cost of the project. Government bilateral agreements takes time. People should not believe that within 2 months Chakwera has made project bilateral agreemnets with China, Japan other partners in these projects no. Too much buaruacracy in all governments.

Way forward. MCP should also have long term project plans so that the incoming governments shall have where to start from.

Limbe – Mulanje Road was built under Bakili but agreements for the road were made by Kamuzu under MCP.

Lets learn to put facts straight for our Children. Zomba – Limbe road was built under Joyce Banda but agreements were made under Bingu.

    1. what are you trying to say???, DPP announced it but never implementated the projects anagawana ndalama for development, Give Tonse Government a chance, its only been 2 months

    2. You must be a long serving Ministry of Transport official because your facts are just too good to argue against. Society surely needs to be enlightened on certain national issues like what you have done, otherwise credit will be heaped where it is not due!

    3. Exactly. Let’s acknowledge even the donors who funded the projects and let’s not name our roads with political and partisan names. Not like dictator Bingu naming the Mulange Road funded by European Union, Robert Mugabe Highway. Which was nonsensical because Mugabe was a dictator detested by European Union

      1. This is so low. How can adults argue about which goverment is good at getting loans!!! Saddling Malawi with Chinese or Japanese York is not less than putting next generation into modern time slavery economically

  11. What about the stalled road constructions in rural areas such as Njakwa Livingstonia Road?

Development should not concentrate in the urban areas.

    1. Forget about it. This time is for Lilongwe. Ngati DPP sinakuganizileni nthawi yawo basi iwalani. MCP will concentrate in central.

  12. should we not be having a dual carriageway from Lilongwe to Blantyre first?. It’s a good thing anyway.

    1. There is mispresentation here. It should be X roads to Lumbadzi and not Kasungu. Note a further statement of a road from Lumbadzi to Chiweta further down.

    2. We needed to seriously consider improving the Lilongwe/Blantyre dual carriage road system first with ancillary road toll stations in between.

    1. Chingeni to Salima (Kamuzu Road) the road is not bad and not that busy. Dwangwa to Nkhata Bay, Mota did a good job and the road is still in good condition, traffic is low BUT the road from Kaphatenga in Salima to Dwangwa is in a sorry state, most bridges are single lane and I personally believe they have outlived their life span. The heavy goods trucks carrying sugar and sugar canes between Illovo and Salima Sugar add to the challenge.

  13. $50 million dual carriageway from Lilongwe to Kasungu
Another new road from Kamuzu International Airport to Mzimba
    What was the writer smoking?
By the way, theres no way anyone can construct a dual carriageway from Lilongwe to Kasungu, for just 50 million dollars. Malawians can be easily fooled. The cost of a normal 2 lane road is approximately 1 million per km. Lilongwe to Kasungu, is over 100km,so you need 100 million dollars for just a normal road. A dual carriageway will cost almost twice that amount

    1. Good mathematics. I also wondered if 50m dollars can construct a dual carriage road to Kasungu, when laying a water pipe from Salina to Lilongwe is costing 300m US dollars.

      1. The writer got it wrong. The dual carriage road is up to Kamuzu International Airport turn off not what he has written

    2. That’s the problem with these embedded reporters, they report without thinking. You CANNOT build a dual highway from Lilongwe to Kasungu for $50m even if you use modern Nyau & Simbi Construction technology

    1. Good plans, bola osamangokamba monga adadie amakambira ndikuika miyala ya madziko basi. Start them now not 2024 nkudzati timalidze ntchito imene tayamba.
