Many Christians cannot fully live their present life because they are bound up in their past. This is not what God’s redemption plan is about because we are now a new creation through what Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross. Remember that When He died, we also died with Him, when He was buried, we were buried with Him, meaning all our sins were also buried with Him and when he rose, we rose with Him therefore we are a new creation, from the day we accepted Him as our Savior. This is why when bringing people to Jesus, it is important to make them understand and believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose again which is what saves us therefore the need to believe what Jesus has done on the Cross.
11 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that if any man be in Christ, He is a new creature and old things are passed away therefore all things are become new. If we are a new creation, why should we continue to think about things that we did when we did not know what Jesus has accomplished for us? All we need to do is to just surrender and make Jesus the Lord over our lives, and He will start leading our lives into specific directions according to His will because you are no longer alone, but you have Christ that dwells in you. It is the power of God that will cause people to look at you differently as they see that something has happened in your life. People will come that will want to still remind you of your past but you have the right to tell them that “you are now a new creation through what Jesus did for you”.
If you remember when Jesus was tempted by Satan at the beginning of His ministry, He had to immediately use scripture to shut off the devil. We are all heirs therefore we have the power to shut off whatever form of intimidation the enemy may want to bring to us as a way of keeping us in bondage.
Many people are hurting, even for things that they never did but because others have chosen to damage their good image. I had to talk to one of my cousins the past week that is studying for her Social work degree and told me how the professor explained the reason why people lie about others. The professor explained that people lie about others to stop those that look to be a threat, because if they don’t make people believe that they are bad people, there future looks too bright and unstoppable. So by lying against them, they know that they have changed people’s minds about how they look at them, and at the same time all the confidence the person has is no longer the same.
So if you think of such things, it is better to ignore all that has happened to just stop you from reaching your destiny. Chose to move forward, with Jesus you cannot fail again as you will now be protected from all the plans of the enemy. “Remember you not the former things, neither consider the things of old; Behold I will do a new thing now, it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18-19).
