Ben Phiri admits government aware of Malawians’ hardships: Bear with us

Local Government and Rural Development Minister Dr Ben Phiri has admitted that the government knows Malawians are struggling, and has asked them to be patient while it works on fixes.

Dr Phiri spoke on Friday at Mulanje Park, at a ceremony to elevate chiefs in the district.

“As leaders we must admit that Malawians are facing challenges and government is aware,” he said.

“Let me assure you that government is working tirelessly to address those challenges.”

He apologised to Malawians for the hardships they are facing and called for people to work together to tackle them.

He urged the business community to join the government in finding ways to boost the supply of foreign currency.

“We want the business community to come forward and work with government on how best we can maximize the availability of forex in the country,” he said.

He promised that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)-led government is committed to backing business to support its efforts on forex.
