Accident claims life of finance director at Mzuzu City Council
Another of Malawi’s road accidents has claimed the life of director of finance at the Mzuzu City Council (MCC) who died after the car he was driving overturned around Mtengowanthenga in the central region district of Dowa on Tuesday.
Director of Administration at the council, Mr. Masina, confirmed the death of Mr. Mzumara who died on the spot alongside his wife around 11 o’clock in the morning.
The two were driving to Lilongwe from Mzuzu when they met their fate.
“I can really confirm that the director of finance here at MCC and his wife died in a road accident this morning,” Masina said in an interview with Nyasa Times.
This becomes the third reported road accident since Monday this week.
A minibus –registration number KU 4641 – with 20 passengers on board crashed when it failed to negotiate a bend around Mchezi area in Kanengo on Monday evening claiming 6 lives.
Police have however put the official death toll at 4.
At around the same time, another accident involving a minibus and a truck happened in the escarpments of Chiweta in Rumphi where 2 people are reported to have died
