Aford lone MP Chihana booted from Parliament over Chilima remarks

Alliance for Democracy (Aford) member of parliament for Mzimba North Yeremiah Chihana has been sent out of parliament for generating the House into chaos after insisting that President Lazarus Chakwera must fire Secretary to the President (SPC) alleging that the SPC’s incompetence is making Vice President Saulos Chilima under perform as head of reforms.

Chihana: Upfront talk

Chilima has been in parliament today to answer questions related to his ministry of Economic Planning and Development and Public Sector Reforms.

“He (Chilima) works on delegation. He can not fire PSs or Directors yet he is heading reforms. He is being ineffective because we have an incompetent Secretary to the President and Cabinet (Zangazanga Chikhosi).

“The President must fire the SPC otherwise the reforms will not work,” said Chihana degenerating the House into chaos.

Before being kicked out of Parliament, Chihana asked Vice president Chilima what policy tools are in Malawi Agenda 2063 that contrast with Vision 2020 and, what are the economic drivers for the agenda 2063.

Chilima said there are several things that make Malawi 2063 different from Vision 2020. He said Vision 2020 was aimed at poverty reduction while 2063 is aimed at wealth creation.

First deputy speaker Madalitso Kazombo has directed that Chihana report back in Parliament on Monday and face a disciplinary committee.

Dr Zangazanga Chikhosi SPC was the patriotic senior designer of Vision 2020 together with Dr Ng’ombe and other ECONOMISTS in the Department of Economic Planning and Development. Surely VP Dr Chilima is working with Dr Chikhosi. I worked with Dr Chikhosi team during Vision 2020 meetings. Vision 2020 was designed to make Malawians take full control and own local economic development projects in Malawi. In the case of Salima Sugar Factory which is under Greenbelt initiative now, if it were Vision 2020 it would have trained the trainable local citizens in Salima especially those who owned the land of the… Read more »

Truth always hurts, unfortunately. Should the man be demonised for calling a spade a spade?

Chihana and Musowa are the one who will keep this government in check not Nankhumwa. Indeed Chilima is being overshadowed by the powerful SPC , he is busy creating positions for party cronies and relative in the greater conspirancy to create criminal enterprise. Right now the whole state house is full of Chakwera relatives and friends from Church assemblies of God. The deal to interdict all DCs and chief executives of councils is a way of trying to create vacancies for their friends. party zealots and relatives.

2020 was for poverty reduction, 2063 is for wealth creation. The question is whether poverty has been reduced or not. We cannot talk about 2063 unless we address the shortfalls of the 2020 vision that is still pending. Chihana was right, he asked very interesting and thought-provoking questions.
