AHL appoints acting CEO: Exit Matabwa, in Nkhono
AHL Group, formerly Auction Holdings Limited, has appointed Alfred Nkhono as acting chief executive officer (CEO) following the retirement of Dr. Evans Matabwa.
Board chairperson of AHL Group, Felix Jumbe says the appointment of Nkhono is effective November 1, 2020.
Until his appointment, Nkhono was the Group Finance executive/company secretary for the Group.
“Mr. Nkhono possesses extensive management experience and is a seasoned finance professional,” says Jumbe.
Prior to the joining AHL Group in 2018, Nkhono worked as chief executive officer for Press Agriculture Limited for eight years.
Nkhono is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants (CIMA), a Chartered Global Accountants (ACCA) and a Certified Accoutant in Malawi (CA-Malawi).
He also holds Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Accountancy from the University of Malawi (Unima).

Go and search to his house of evans Matabwa you will be shocked. The guy has stolen and sticking rich.The guy gave peter his uncle a lot of money from AHL and introduced small companies of chemicals just to still from the government. He has not been retired but sacked off though too late. Count how many houses he has built.Tobacco money is being received abroad and Evans has account there. Germany, Uk and usa. This is too late for Chakwera and Chilima to sack him.They are good friends with Felix Jumbe of Admarc.
This is overdue removal of Matabwa at AHL. The guy is a complete thief and gave DDP government K98m for Peter to win elections the time of Joyce Banda. Which Nkhono are you talking about Bigman. I have known Alfred Nkhono as very humble, extremely hardworking, honest manager. He was not provided resources at Press Agriculture otherwise the company could not have been where it is. There are bad Chief Executives like Isyagi who went to Press Agriculture and totally failed. In my personal opinion you cant compare this pompous and good for nothing Evans Matabwa who has wrecked Auction Holdings and brought it to its knees. Give Nkhono time, he will clean that place. Bigman, you are not being truthful. if there is a CEO that anchored Press Agriculture Limited amidst serious challenges, its the Nkhono you wrongly acuse. Ask us who are employees of Press Agriculture. You can even check with the Press Trust you are talking about or the Board Members who were on the Board of Press Agriculture in his time one by one if you are honest with your opinion. Matabwa’s dismissal is long overdue. This guy has ran down what used to be a blue chip company. In 2018 the Group made a K44 billion loss and the ceo was untouchable. Tonse govt please institute a forensic audit.
The losses by ahl r mindboggling. How do borrow millions to set up a commodity exchange and fail. U set up a leaf buying company and fail. This has to be the biggest fraud malawi has ever seen. Follow the money. This is nigerian style looting.
For sure, MLCL and AHCX, AHL Chemicals and Steel were deliberately formed to defraud government, it was deliberate move by Matabwa and his DPP cronies who have shared what they have looted at AHL. Those companies have never produced profits up to now but he was maintaining them as if all is well.
