Airtel Malawi unveils ‘Club 09′ to young people

Airtel Malawi has unveiled a new product segment to its customers dubbed “Club 09” destined to champion mobile telecoms affordability drive.

Speaking during the launching ceremony in Lilongwe on Tuesday, the company’s Managing Director Heiko Schlittke said the product will enable the youth community to enjoy Airtel’s network than ever before with utmost affordable rates for voice and internet.

“Airtel realises that youth are the muscle of the brand and therefore the company is adding spice to their mobile telecom fantasy,” he said.

He added that the new product underlines the fact that the cell phone technology grows on senses of speed and connectivity to the social life of young people.

Club 09 offers the youth a package that easily and affordably helps them connect to their friends. This is the paramount way to spread our “Hello, Muli Bwanji?” to young people, he said.

Schllittke said his company believes that Club 09 will create the much needed excitement on mobile phone usage by the youth and wants their brand to grow with the youth to greater heights.

In her remarks, Minister of Youth and Sports Development Grace Chiumia commended Airtel for introducing an exciting product for the youth in the country.

“The new product will help our youth to be creative in the issues of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) as well as connected to their social life,” she said.

She therefore advised the youth to use the product responsibly.

However, Club 09 key benefits include calling for K30 per minute anytime within the club, 100 free sms’s to send on local Airtel number every day, 20 per cent discount on data pay as you go usage, recharge bonus to use on data upon recharging with k250, k500 and k1000 recharge vouchers as well as 100 free minutes to call on airtel number or 100 MBs of internet surfing, for night usage between 11pm and 5am as reward for using k300 airtime everyday.
