Alliance Capital Stars will now compete in national finals against regional champions from Central and Southern regions May 28-30 at Katoto Secondary School courts in Mzuzu.

For their success, Stars received K1 million (US$2 222) while runners-up Chilomoni received K500 000 (US$1 111).

From the word go, Alliance Capital Starts showed their tenacity to grab the cup as they kept attacking their opponents through their playmaker Tendai.

But it was Memory who netted most of the baskets for her side at ease.

Alliance bossed in all the quarters as they led 12-10, 27-21, 42-29 before demolishing their opponent in the last quarter with 51-36 baskets.

Chilomoni lost their rhythm in the second quarter, as a bulk of their players looked tired and lacked composure.

The Chilomoni Township based out-fit failed further to contain Alliance pressure in the third quarter.

Alliance Capital Stars coach Zikani Nyondo said he was very excited to win the title and vows to continue with the winning streak on national level.

“Our aim is to reach far on national level. We are aiming high and this should be a warning to big teams like Tigresses, Diamonds that Alliance is back in town,” he said.

Netball Association of Malawi general secretary Carol Bapu hailed Alliance for their outstanding performance on regional level and urged them to transform their performance even on national level.

Bapu also saluted Airtel thanked Airtel Malawi for sponsoring the tournament, saying it has helped in the uplifting of netball in Malawi.

For instance, she said the tournament has helped in unearthing hidden talent from districts.

The winner on national level will go away with K7 million and Tigresses are the cup holders.
