Analyst cautions Mutharika over anarchy blame game
Renowned political analysts have cautioned President Peter Mutharika against careless political rhetoric as the country continues to experience political impasse as the country awaits Constitutional Court determination in the presidential elections nullification petition case.
This follows Mutharika’s outburst on Wednesday in Mulanje when he said he would deal with the opposition for plotting to cause what he said anarchy in the country following the highly disputed May 21, 2019 elections.
Said Mutharika: “It isvery pathetic that some people are indulging in demonstrations, violence and destruction which have created an atmosphere of lawlessness and anarchy. On Sunday, some people torched a police station in Kasungu.
“All this is happening because some irresponsible opposition people who lost in the elections are creating anarchy in this country and they better stop. I will not allow them to turn this country into a jungle. Whoever is breaking the law will one day answer for it. I promise that.”
However, analyst George Phiri of University of Livingstonia said Mutharika’s remarks were aimed at derailing the ongoing Public Affairs Committee (PAC) led peace talks.
He said “Mutharika needs to be cautious” with his political statements at this sensitive time to avoid plunging the country into chaos.

For how long must he be quiet? When APM is quiet, you say he does not rebuke the evil doers but when he rebukes you say he better be quiet. What is it that we really want my fellow Malawians? The ‘tip-exxed’ his excellency APM has been pronouncing similar ‘allegations’ against the opposition since his infamous claim following his ‘tip-exxed’ inauguration when he announced that his ‘tip-exxed’ intelligence officials had uncovered a ‘tip-exxed’ terrorist plot which the opposition were, in conjuction with AL-SHABBAB, about to carry out to plunge the country into anarchy. Opposition leader Dr. Chakwera challenged the ‘tip-exxed’ president to produce evidence…..which up to now is not forthcoming. There was also another ‘tip-exxed claim the a plot to ‘bomb’ the Kamuzu stadium during ‘tip-exxed’ election victory rally had been uncovered……again no evidence given up to now. There have been a few more similar ‘tip-exxed’ presidential utterances made which just show that may be not much attention should be paid to such ‘tip-exxed’ utterances because by now reasonable audiences should be able to decipher that it’s just ‘a loud ging-gong sound coming from an empty tin!
Peter Mutharika are you not ashamed each time you open your mouth lying to people of Malawi that the opposition lost the 21 May 2019 elections? The case is in court, let us all wait for judgement and see who lost the elections. After the ruling please don’t die with cardiac arrest

I thought what made to what happened in kasungu was the cause of the death of a young girl who died of the Burundian 🐶 dog. Was it the political situation problems in this case no. If I were there I would have been in the scene too. Why should you blame opposition when you don’t speak of the death of the child I feel very bad indeed. If was in other countries the dog’s owner would have been charged guilty yet your blaming opposition shame
