Football analyst Charles Nyirenda has condemned the selection of Malawi Under 23 players ahead of a 2020 Olympic qualifying match against Botswana next month.
FAM released a 26 member squad expected to go into camp to start preparations for the qualifying match at Mpira Village on Sunday 28th October 2018.
Some of the names on the list include players who have been featured in the senior ream.
According to Nyirenda popularly known as ‘Grandmaster’, most of the players included in the squad are over-aged.
“Most of the players on the list are well above 23 years of age. This is a complete fiasco” he told Nyasa Times on Saturday.
Out of the 26 players, 23 plays in elite league clubs.
The other three are Peter Banda of Griffin Young Stars, Charles Peturo and Chimwemwe Idana both from Nyasa big Bullets Reserve.
The team will be headed by TN Stars Coach Meke Mwase.
