Analysts, Govt shocked with APM remarks of calling on Chakwera ‘to open up Central Region’
The government has labeled the call by former president of Malawi and DPP leader Peter Mutharika as unwarranted, asking President Lazarus Chakwera to open up the central region for other political parties to conduct political rallies ahead of the 2025 polls.
Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu says the former Malawi leader would have been at the forefront of condemning any form of political violence rather than finger-pointing at other political leaders.
Meanwhile, political experts in the country have predicted a volatile political landscape marred with violence in the run-up to the 2025 general elections.
Political analyst Ernest Thindwa says what former president Peter Mutharika said is worrisome as it shows that daggers have been drawn between two major political parties in the country.
Another expert, George Chaima, has expressed shock at Mutharika’s sentiments, saying the plea to Chakwera is invalid, as no party in the country has a mandate to shut down any region politically.

It is sad to observe how our politicians have taken us for granted. May be we are to blame because we applaud them even if when they are insulting us.
Truth be talk which Governing Party since the birth if democracy in Malawi has delivered to the expectations of the people? They have all come and routed. They have borrowed for the infrastructure millions of dollars without showing any. Transport systems, all. Roads, railway and airports. For example Chileka it is a shame, not to mention of Mzuzu, it is a grazing ground. All you see there landing are birds. Karonga, Nsanje. All these before this current government.
Then you hear our previous leaders have the guts to talk of not being taken care of. Come on you have routed enough to take care of yourself. Malawians be wise. Why are you fooled! It is sad. Malawians lock up these thieves. Some will say the obtain their wealth through their businesses. Yes by collapsing the systems so that you could create your empires of your transporting business, for instance.
Please publish this. Our people need to know the truth. The bad economy didn’t start three four years ago. Politicians stop lying.
