Atupele says PP gov’t must go, urges Malawians to usher in ‘transformational leadership ’
United Democratic Front (UDF) Presidential Candidate Atupele Muluzi on Thursday said the Joyce Banda administration must not be allowed to continue ruling the country beyond 20th May this year.
He made this statement when he addressed a rally at Dedza boma.
“As a country we should never make a mistake of voting for the current administration. It’s going to be a huge mistake and costly to all of us as a country,” said Atupele, the youngest presidential candidate.
He said that the current administration has no clue on how it can restore the confidence of the development partners as well as the business community in order to stabilise the economy.
“As long as the leadership can fly around and criss-cross the country using tax payers money to them that is it. We no longer need that type of leadership in this country. That is why am saying this administration must go,” he emphasised.
Atupele told the cheering crowds that the he was ready to govern Malawi based on a clear agenda that emphasises on stabilising and growing the economy, managing the public purse for the benefit of all Malawians and a social protection program for the vulnerable.
He defended his social protection programs saying it is not the same as hand out.
The UDF leader explained that an injection of cash into the economy through cash transfers will boost economic activities in the rural areas and sustain the lives of many Malawians.
He said beneficiaries will not have to line up at a political rally to access cash transfers. He said this will be purely a government program and administered by government officials and not the president or any politician.
The youngest presidential candidate said Malawians have all the reasons to trust his leadership.
Atupele was upbeat that he will win the forthcoming tripartite election.
