Chakwera carries the cross on Good Friday
Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Rev. Dr Lazarous Chakwera on Fridayjoined thousands of Roman Catholic faithful in the capital Lilongwe in the annual walking pilgrimage of the Way of the Cross.
Chakwera joined people at St. Peters Anglican Parish in Lilongwe at the end of ‘Way of the Cross’ which Christians from Maula Catholic Cathedral, Mtima Oyera Parish and St. Peters Anglican parish
The procession replicates the devotional practice of the Stations of the Cross, which recalls the episodes on Good Friday.
Chakwera a former president of the Assemblies of God Church, said he joined the Catholic faithfuls demonstrating reconciliation with God.

Chakwera joined church members when he carried the cross to symbolize homage to Christ.
The MCP torchbearer in the May 20 presidential elections surged Malawias to celebrate Easter responsibly and remember the plight of the less fortunate of our society.
Chakwera described Easter as an important feast on the Christian calendar.
He said Easter period should be “a time of good will and expression of unconditional love to one another.”
