Atusaye cleared to play for SuperSport

Malawi National soccer team striker Atusaye Nyondo has now been cleared to play for his new South African club Supersport United.

Nyondo, who signed a three year contract with United earlier this year from Carara Kicks, has not been featured by his new club in any competition awaiting clearance but should now play in the Absa premiership which kicks off this weekend.

According to sources, Nyondo is one of the strikers that have been roped in to help United regain top form after subdued performances last season that ended without winning any silverware.

Still in South Africa, Malawi’s hitman Chiukepo Msowoya says he is not losing sleep with the arrival of veteran striker Benni Mc Carthy at Orlando Pirates.

Atusaye: To play

Mc Carthy who is South Africa’s record goal scorer signed a two year contract with the Absa giants to boost the team’s front line in the new season. Mc Carthy had been without a club since April after relegated English outfit West Ham United paid him a fee to cut his contract short.

Msowoya has made fewer appearances for the Buccaneers since arrival last season and made little impact.

“I am not worried with the coming in of Mc Carthy because it will be good for the team interms of competition for places but it also means I have to work hard. He is an experienced player and I stand to benefit from that,” he said.

Msowoya says he wants to work hard this season and prove to everyone that he is still a good striker. He says he is happy that the coach has shown faith in him by not offloading him just like his friend Joseph Kamwendo.

“This shows that the coach trusts my abilities and I would like to reward him with some goals if given enough game time this season,” said the Flames netburster.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that TNM Super League’s player of the moment Ndaziona Chatsalira might leave the country this weekend for trials with Supersport United.

Chatsalira has been instrumental to Escom’s run of good form this season with some wonderful goals and assists and instantly caught the eye of local player agent Kondi Msungama who is facilitating a move for him.
