Auditor General finalises report on health ministry scam
Office of the Auditor General says it has finalised a report on the ministry of health scam which saw staff stealing millions of money meant for a US funded project.
Spokesman for the office Lawrence Chinkhuta said the report and recommendations have since been sent to the ministry for action against the 60 members of staff who have since been interdicted.
“We have our findings and recommendations. We submitted to them two weeks ago,” Chinkhunda said.
He said if the ministry fails to act on the report, the law provides that the office reports the matter to parliament.
The 60 interdicted staff include a chief accountant, director of human resources, accountants and drivers who are said to have abused money meant for US funded Centre for Disease Control.
