Baby girl with exposed intestines unwell

A baby girl is being observed at Mzimba District Hospital in northern Malawi after it was born with its intestines outside the body at Nkoma Health Centre in the district.

The incident has left health authorities baffled and without concrete  explanations as to what could have caused the development.

Reports indicate that the baby is not feeling well and the exposed  intestines have started rotting.

According to information sourced on the internet, the birth defect is called Gastroschisis.

The condition causes the baby’s intestines stick outside of the baby’s body, through a hole beside the belly button.

The hole can be small or large and sometimes other organs, such as the stomach and liver, can also stick outside of the baby’s body usually to the right side of belly button.

The information indicates that Gastroschisis affects one child in 10 thousand babies worldwide.

Surgery is required soon after the baby is born to place the abdominal organs inside the baby’s body and repair the abdominal wall.

  1. Our Lord who at in have mercy on us. We depend on your our Almighty God. Touch and heal this innocent baby girl. As the Bible says “All things are possible with you”. Hear her mother’s cry, crying upon you my God. When our wisdom ends, that’s when your work starts, we believe in you my God, and indeed we believe in the name of Jesus that you make a way where it seems to be now way. My God do something miraculous at this baby. In Jesus name Amen.

  2. After reading some of the comments. Shame. ZOWONA DOES THE BABY EVEN KNOW ITS TUMBUKA. Winawu ndi utsiru. Have empathy zomvetsa chisoni.

  3. Weak stomach skin mostly is the cause. The baby needs surgery immediately to restore delicate stomach in her body. Why are we even talking about five months later. Why ????? . Ofunika a ma Surgeon ozindikira ku Malawi kuno ndithu . Everyone claims to know medicine but no specialization. It takes ma Foreigner and very few Malawian doctors to find causes of symptoms. Shame. Chifukwa anthu osauka komanso opanda owathandiza amaona chipsyinjo ngati ichi pamene it could be prevented Or corrected. My prayer is that We should find Doctors and surgeons osangokhala ma general Practitioner basi kapena dzina chabe. The miracle would be a doctor/surgeon who knows how to fix is then God heals the baby.
Mulungu atithandize chifukwa this is not a medical condition that people sit and observe this is life – threatening. In my humble opinion why aren’t the parents vigilant to get the baby to a better hospital and not assume kuti ndi malodza. VERY HEART BREAKING.
